Shin/Instep.. Grappling and Stand-up

I'm looking to buy some shin and instep pads for MMA. (they need to be suatable for grappling) I've seen some tht say their specifically made for grappling and some made for sparing.
Can you use sparing ones for grappling? Will they stunt your performence?

Usually the ones that say they are specifically for grappling have more like a sock/sleeve that you pull up your leg, with the shin pad built into the front, while the ones that are more for standup just velcro in the back.

You can use the grappling ones for stand up, but I wouldn't use the stand up ones for grappling.

Hope that helps.
