Question How do I hang a 6 Foot Bag?

Hi,
I just started kickboxing and want to buy a 6 foot 100lb bag for home use,

question is how do i know what hight to hang it?
how close to the ground should it be?
I am 6 foot tall if that helps.

I am going to get a mount made up from a friend to mount it in the yard outside,
i was thinking that It should be mounted about 12 inchs off the ground,
but would this be too high to practise low kicks?
any advice would help.

Cheers Mark

think about it this way where will you be punching/kicking it as if it were a person? usually about a foot or so off the ground (you wont be kicking any person below that)usually works or the Thai bags can usually come closer to the ground.

from the ceiling........lol....sorry couldnt resist.......

the main issue is not to hang it too low....you need a good mounting hook which you can find here: http://www.titlemma.com/

Also remember that the focal point that you want to hit the bag at is gonna be anywhere from 2 1/2 to 3 feet off the ground depending where your hanging it from

the foot above the ground thing would matter if your trainning low kicks otherwise you prob want it more than 1 ft but my ceiling is 12 ft from the ground......

ya it depends on ceiling height and your height. Someone 5' and someone 6'6" are going to hang it differently.
