Training Muay Thai and BJJ

I have done 2 weeks. I train 4 days a week in my gym with weights and now they have rented some space out to people who want to do fighting lessons. So when I say 2 weeks I mean 1 hr of Muay Thai followed by 1 hour of Brazilian Ju-Jujitsu.

With the scene set, I want to know what equipment I should buy. A guy was offering to sell gyes (spelling?) last week. I was thinking a mouth guard and maybe a cup would be more essential.

We did some BJJ sparing at 50-60% but not standup sparing.

I'm from the UK what stuff should I be looking at? My teeth aren't perfectly uniform and straight so would a regular mouth guard be sufficent?

The back of my neck is aching 2 days after I trained in fighting.
