Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 adds Lahdesmaki-Alers, Gonzalez-Buchinger, Phillips-Penz

Quote:
This month's Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 event has three new additions.

They include featherweights Matteus Lahdesmaki (12-7-3) vs. Jim Alers (7-1), lightweights Diego Gonzalez (15-6) vs. Ivan Buchinger (18-3), and middleweights John Phillips (14-5) vs. Tomas Penz (8-5).

Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 takes place May 24 in Bahrain (city and venue TBA), and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) streams the main card live.

As officials previously announced, the main event pits welterweight champion Gael Grimaud (14-5) vs. former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Jesse Taylor (20-8) in a five-round title fight.

Lahdesmaki, a Finnish fighter, made his promotional debut in February and choked out Graham Turner at Cage Warriors Fight Night 3. It maked his third in four fights. The M-1 and Shooto vet now takes on Alers, an American prospect and Gracie Barra Orlando fighter who's won seven of eight pro fights, all via stoppage (and six in the first round).

Gonzalez, meanwhile, is a recent M-1, BAMMA and World Victory Road fighter who recently returned to Cage Warriors with a February submission victory over Ivica Truscek. The Swede was stuck in a 1-3 skid before the victory. He now takes on Buchinger, a Slovakian fighter who makes his promotional debut for Cage Warriors. The submission specialist recently snapped a six-fight win streak with a decision loss to Anton Kuivanen a year ago in his most recent bout.

Phillips, a Welsh fighter, recently was bounced from the Cage Warriors middleweight tournament with a submission defeat to Pavel Kusch. Prior to the defeat, he was on a 6-1 run, and the lone loss came to UFC vet Frank Trigg in BAMMA 6. He takes on Penz, a Czech fighter who makes his promotional debut on a three-fight win streak in regional competition.

The latest Cage Warriors Fight Night 6 card includes:
Champ Gael Grimaud vs. Jesse Taylor (for welterweight title)
Tomas Penz vs. John Phillips
Jim Alers vs. Matteus Lahdesmaki
Ivan Buchinger vs. Diego Gonzalez
