Awesome to finally see Babalu back in action, that dude is soooo bad-ass! Also interested to see if Scott Smith has anything left in the tank, he's taken some hard beatings in recent years, I hope the guy gets a good win. Will also keep a close eye on Victor Ortiz, want that Ortiz/Alvarez fight to happen so bad!

Wow Friday night was an MMA blur. If Bellator got overlooked around here with Rogers fighting I know XFC did. Here are their results:

Quote:
For five minutes, UFC and Strikeforce vet John Salter looked well on his way to his fourth-straight win.

Then it all came crashing down.

After opening crisply against Reggie Pena, Salter faltered on a second-round takedown attempt, shooting directly into a guillotine choke and submitting just 36 seconds into the sophomore stanza of the Xtreme Fighting Championship 18 main event, which took place at Tennessee's Nashville Municipal Auditorium and aired on HDNet.

Salter looked strong in the opening frame, scoring with solid shots on the feet and taking top position when the fight hit the floor. Salter enjoyed mountt on two occasions and nearly secured an armbar, as well, and it appeared he would continue to cruise as round two began. However, that was not the case.

Pena (10-5) improves to 3-1 in his past four fights. Salter (8-3) sees a three-fight win streak snapped.

In the evening's co-feature, Scott Barrett bounced back from an october loss under the XFC banner with a split-decision win over two-time Strikeforce veteran Gabriel Salinas-Jones.

Barrett used a controlling gameplan, looking to throw hands on the feet before moving into the clinch and taking the fight to the floor, which he did on several occasions. Salinas-Jones answered back in spurts, firing off nice striking attacks from time to time, which was what likely earned him one judge's card, but the other two officials saw it for Barrett, who was controlling the positioning of the fight.

Barrett (13-3) improves to 3-1 in his past four fights. Salinas-Jones (5-3-1) has now dropped two-straight fights.

In the night's lone female contest, Heather Clark wasted little time dispatching of Avery Vilche.

It was Clark who scored an early takedown, only to see Vilche work her way back to the feet. But when Clark pressed in again, Vilche dropped to guard and looked for an armbar. Clark quickly sensed the danger, pulled free and took her opponent's back at the first opportunity. The rear-naked choke came in shortly after, and the fight was over in just 63 seconds.

The night's main-card results include:
Reggie Pena def. John Salter via submission (guillotine choke) - Round 2, 0:36
Scott Barrett def. Gabriel Salinas-Jones via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 30-27)
Heather Clark def. Avery Vilche via submission (rear-naked choke) - Round 1, 1:03
Luke Sanders def. Zachary Sanders via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 4:53
Donny Wallace def. Jason Blackford via submission (armbar) - Round 1, 4:38
Scott Holtzman def. Matt Metts via TKO (strikes) - Round 1, 4:13
Joe Ray def. Dustin West via submission (arm-triangle choke) - Round 2, 1:04

Good to see Babalu back subbing guys. The end to the Huerta fight was disgusting. Huerta was basically out and Morababel soccer kicked the Shit out of his head... And the ref then jus casually wandered over and stood there over Huerta's unconscious body without even waving off the fight!

Not 100% as its not been confirmed by any reliable source, but ive seen a website saying Scott Smith lost - TKO'd by Marcus Gaines (9-18), who had lost 16 of his last 21 fights. Maybe time to hang em up Scott!
