Why do people say Palhares is over bulked

Alot of the heavyweights like overeem, Fedor, Frank mir, brock lesnar are all way more bulked than he is and they all did well, well maybe not lesnar.

Why do ppl say hes over muscled. He doesn`t look that big.

Worthwhile to note the people that you're comparing him to. If you took someone with Lesnar's build and put him at 155 pounds, he'd look like a comic book character... and we'd call him Sean Sherk.

There are sort of prototypical builds for each weightclass, or a range of potential builds, and those builds start to seriously impact a fighter's style when there's too much deviation. Palhares is such a case; at middleweight, there aren't a whole lot of guys who can be successful at all when it comes to high level competition while they're build like he is. It just doesn't happen; that's where the criticism comes from.

I really avoid making comparisons about body type to the majority of heavyweight fighters; those guys are just a totally different thing than the other weightclasses.

It's mostly that Palhares is just so goddamn short for the division, if he lost some of that muscle he could easily make 170lbs.

kantowrestler 12-11-2012 02:21 AM

Well it's hard to do that with some fighters.

Op, you don't think Brock was "bulked" and Fedor is?? What do you mean by bulked?
Is Roy Nelson very bulked in your opinion??

You think so?

facegrater 12-13-2012 11:38 PM

Thanks for replies... When i think of bulked i mean with lots of meat on them, fat or muscle.
So to me frank mir is pretty bulked, he has tons of meat on him he could easily lose. Roy nelson to me is also bulked and fat. Lesnar used to be under 220 when he was in his early 20's, there frames can't possibly weigh that much.
