to strike that you'd need to do like a spear hand or similiar strike

Thanx-found it.
I was thinking of another spot entirely. the spot that you directed me towards is only a couple of inches away that they teach (or taught) in the military as the place to strike with an edge of hand blow if you wanted to break the enemy's neck.
Do you know how to locate that spot? As I recall, if it is the right spot, you can take two fingers and tap yourself there, and you'll feel something like a "zing" in your shoulders.....Yes? No?
I appreciate this edification greatly,thanks,Ferdelance

Another thing to do to mess with someones balance, cup your hand and strike the ear with your cupped hand. That will throw someone off balance enough for you to get away or set up your next move.

This is a good reminder to always be aware of what is going on around you, even in seemingly safe and innocent circumstances. My instinct would be to spin towards them fists, elbows and knees flying.

There are basically no rules if someone grabs you like that from behind. 'Small digital manipulation' i.e. grab a finger and try to reach his elbow with it, that should do the trick.

Don't place yourself in the position of being a victim. Bullies choose what they perceive to be an easy target. Try to be in as public a place as possible with plenty of witnesses. If walking alone, keep eyes and ears wide open (no walking with headphones on). Keep your hands unoccupied in case you need to strike. If they do get their "hand" on your neck they probably expect that you fall to your knees. Do so and you should have a blind shot at the groin if you cannot turn your head. I also think that by pulling straight away, you should break the hold, unless they have huge hands with super strong grips.

good advice.. as I stated in a different thread a good martial artists knows how to avoid the fight.. weather by not looking like a potential victim or just not putting oneself in a situation to be a victim
