Swank? Definition Defined.

Ive seen Damone using the term Swank and thought I knew what it meant. I just saw (yes, just saw.. Ok I'm ashamed) Pride critical countdown 2004. When Randallman suplexed fedor, I heard myself say, now that's Swank. OMFG how did Fedor survive that? Randallman executed that move to perfection and landed Fedor on his head. I was thinking possible broken neck here, and to come out of that to submit Randallman via kimura just a minute or so later.... That has to be the difinition of Swank.

swank
adj : imposingly fashionable and elegant; "a swank apartment"
[syn: swanky]
n : elegance by virtue of being fashionable [syn: chic, chicness,
modishness, smartness, stylishness, last word]
v : display proudly; act ostentatiously or pretentiously [syn: flaunt,
flash, show off]

I guess in the context we use it in, it means to pull off a move with exceptional ease, grace and style. Especially if it is a difficult or unexpected maneuver. For a good example see Martin Kampmann's side-choke on Drew McFedries, or Nick Diaz's gogoplata on Gomi.

The whole GP 2004 was awesome, awesome stuff. Swank indeed, Big Randy. That was the exact moment where I realized that Fedor is not of this world. There's no freakin' way a mere mortal human would've survived let, let alone be unphased by it. Fedor kicks ass, and that fight was about the funnest 2 minutes of MMA.

Elegant indeed, sir.

At some point, one has to ask his or herself why Fedor uses submissions...

Is it because he's a kind robot, and doesn't wish to kill his opponents?

Is it because he wants to warn those other early-version robots like Nog and Mark Hunt (that won't ever shut down) that he's got a verbose v2.0 robot armbar arsenal?

I guess either way, he could be the living definition of swank.

Yeppers ... Looks like all of those definitions fit that suplex from hell... lol and I have to agree, this is proof that fedor isn't human .... As I said in my answers to the MMA IQ test....

Is Fedor God?
No, but God pretends to be Fedor!

Is Fedor the only fighter who can make 2 minute fights seem awesomely epic? Seriously, the first Coleman fight & the Randleman fight. Those are 2 of Fedor's best, and they don't even go 3 minutes. The guy is just awesome, and really, when he's had enough, he's had enough. It's just odd to see a fighter say "Ok, that's it!" and sub a guy a second later. I know Fedor toyed with Coleman big time in their second fight, and it's just hilarious to watch Coleman try with all his might to get Fedor down to no avail. Geez, Fedor bludgeoned him, and Coleman's his "friend"
