Ishii vs Rizzo in the works

Tatame reports that Pedro Rizzo has told World Fight Radio that he will be fighting Ishii this May at an event in Japan yet to be named. Ishii's last three fights have all come under the IGF banner, and this one likely will too.

If it wasn't for poor management and him fighting Fedor when he wasn't ready then maybe he would be. He was in deep talks with them before.

Meh...both took a beating off an over the hill Fedor. Used to be a big fan Rizzo during his early years but now, not so much.

That same Fedor would still beat the majority of guys in the UFC. He would actually still be game vs any one of them. Let's not dismiss those losses, they aren't bad losses by any stretch.

Fedors losses? Nah not dismissing them. And I agree that he would still be relevant if he was in the UFC, he just isn't the figthter he was in early to mid 00s. Rizzo isn't relevant anymore and Ishii hasn't beaten anyone too relevant either. We'll see.

This is the kind of progression Ishii needs IMO. Still very new to MMA.

This exactly.

Ishii needs to build himself up before being thrown to the wolves. McCorkle, Tim are good wins. Plus there aren't many good HWs outside of the UFC

He really needs to be beating Rizzo and with ease in my opinion. Ishii could have a decent future. I can't really comment until I see him fight someone who isn't over the hill or a can.

Yeah exactly. Ishii is a small HW if I remember correctly? Not sure he is small enough to make LHW though. I think he should fight the Linderman-Drysdale winner from tonights LFC fight. Sounds like a nice step for Ishii.
