Spong is a destroyer. Can't wait til he makes his debut into the UFC.

Tyson Griffin vs. Gesias Cavalcante and Gerald Harris vs. Jorge Santiago are pretty decent fights.

Too bad the latter fight is on the preliminary card. Those guys seriously deserve TV time.

Pretty impressed with Deanda hanging in there. First two minutes was Deanda with his counters waiting for Spong to kick. After that it was all Spong. He has such a technical striking game switching levels, angles, utilizing clinch + knees, elbows, liver shots, front kicks, high kicks, inside and outside leg kicks. Deanda started flinging wild combos towards the latter rounds, but Spong was always in control.

This was a sparring match for Spong although it was against a really durable journeyman.

Good stuff from Spong, a tough guy like DeAnda with nothing to lose and everything to gain is always dangerous. DeAnda is not the fighter Spong is but he has much more cage time under his belt, aside from the odd desperate rush he had zero control in this fight and got picked apart.

There isn't enough at WSOF for Spong now, he could fight Blachowicz, Poland's top dog on a good streak. Otherwise I think he needs to be in the UFC or Bellator now, where there's enough top 40 talent for Spong to get his teeth into and build a record. If he hits the 10 fight mark with a good win/loss ratio he'll be a big concern.

I noticed he didn't lose any power from round 1 to round 3. He's very well conditioned. The next test is to fight against a very strong grappler and as we all know there's no shortages of em in the UFC. I have high hopes for him. I think he needs to switch focus on BJJ and wrestling immediately to achieve an adequate level. His striking is already far superior than anyone else in the LHW. Once he's on the ground his energy could get sapped very quickly and it would make him a lot more gun shy. He's the new version of Chuck and Mirko without that HUGE one shot KO, but he's got a very wide array of weapons.

I love the way he was allowing Deanda to hit em while blocking in hopes to tire him out and create openings. He landed quite a few right hooks, overhands, and left hook liver shots. Deanda for some reason didn't get phased until his mouth piece flew out. He was lucky there that the ref stopped it briefly. Tyrone was going to rush em.

Spong didn't look as good as I expected him to, but that is probably my own fault for giving a guy that is on his second mma fight to much hype. It takes some time to adjust to striking with mma gloves on.

The Griffin stoppage was terrible. That ref made a couple bad calls (calling a timeout immediately after Moraes knocked the mouth piece out of dudes mouth and seemingly hurting him was retarded).

Moraes looked beastly, don't know why he didn't turn it on and finish Hempleman in the first or second.

Sefo is just sad now. Getting subbed with a can opener by the other Reem and getting KO'ed by some guy who shouldn't even be able to touch him standing. He should hang it up.
