I caught this earlier tonight, it was alright. I'd definitely give it the edge over King of the Cage with regard to entertainment value but the commentary was pretty much unbearable.
Whenever the favoured fighter walked in the ring, the black commentator guy would say "The one and only (insert name).
I didn't catch every fight, I started watching when Jacare's fight started. That guy is one mean dude, he wrecked his opponent. I'd love to see him in the UFC.
The main event was Thomas Denny vs Fredson Paixao. I'd never heard of Paixao before, but that guy is no joke on the ground. He definitely exemplified some amazing BJJ and submitted Denny by the end of round one.
As far as the show goes however, I couldn't help but laugh at the emulation of the UFC.
-An Octagon was used, albeit a MUCH larger one
-For pre-fight interviews, fighters were seated infront of black screens.
-After the fight an interviewer would enter the octagon and make the fighter watch the video of him punching his opponent in the face, following up with the question "what were you thinking at this point?" just as pointlessly as Joe Rogan does.
-The black ring announcer tried to pull a Bruce Buffer and repeatedly made mistakes. The funniest part however, was the fact he held the last syllables on EVERY word so he could figure out what the next word was on the cue card. He made Buffer look slick as shit lol.
Overall it was a decent show from what I saw, some good fights and fighters but aside from that, there was waaaaaay too much UFC imitation going on.
Oh well, that's just my take. Did any of you watch it? What did you think?
