MMA Shorts Recommendation Needed!

Hello people.

I've recently started practising muay thai/kick boxing, and I would love some recommendations in regards to which pants I should purchase, and what kind- I've seen some use "fight shorts" while others use "grappling/vale tudo" shorts.

Feel free to throw some links. Thanks in advance.

Ps. dunno if this is the right section to post this in, feel free to move the topic to another section if it is inapproriate.!

Sean Sherk
Georges St-Pierre

if your going to use the shorts for strictly striking, it may sound kind of gay but skin tight shorts are the best opnion in my opinion becuase it doesn't restrict your movement when throwing kicks and doing ground work.

I use these

I'm gonna provide pics of the pairs of shorts I have. Give you an idea of what they look like.

The most comfortable pair of grappling shorts I own use to be my Bad Boy shorts. Not anymore below.

(Not me pictured...)

I also love this white pair of NOGI grappling shorts I got online.

Lastly, I just bought a VERY comfortable pair Sprawl shorts. The green digital camo pair. They're comfortable as hell.

It's basically just up to your feelings on the materials. You just have to order like 3 or 4 different kinds, and see what you like best. That's all I did.

This needs to be in the gear section, but that can be fixed later. If you're just starting out, just get a hold of comfortable workout shorts and you should be fine. You aren't going to need any specialized board or grappling shorts because all you are doing is striking, and you shouldn't have to worry about them falling off your hips unless they don't have a draw-string.

If you get a bit farther, then take a look at the shorts listed above. It would be a shame to end up shelling out a whole bunch of cash right at first without knowing how deep you are going to get into training. It's a common mistake that many (myself included) make at one time or another when starting out.

For other ideas on the type of equipment you may need, or may want to consider, look at my thread here: The Must Have List for MMA Gear. It should give you a realistic idea of what it may to get all the things that you will probably need.

It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree... As long as I don't bore you and I spark a moment of thought, my goal is achieved.
