I would say it depends on the stature of your opponent.

If you're fighting a chub kind of guy, wouldn't hurt to check the waist, hips, constant scanning.

If you're opponent is ripped, definitely watch the chest. Anything coming can be signified by a flex of the chest muscles (except maybe kicks although you would still see the chest flex to stabilize the body before the kick.)

I'm pretty sure most boxers are taught to watch the chest for muscle movement... could be wrong though. Watching the eyes is a stare-down pre-fight thing only

Waiting for Cornbreads funny reply.

Just a noob but you should be able to watch their face and hands at the same time, enough to explain what they're up to.

From my years of martial arts training its always been the Solar Plexus. The spot right where the chest ends and the stomach begins. When you look here you get a great view of the entire body from the shoulders to the hips. Using that view you can usually anticipate or at least catch on to what the opponent is going to do when they start the movement. Looking someone in the eyes would be a fatal mistake IMO. The eyes lie constantly. Think of when someone is playing basketball and they look to the left and throw the ball right. If you're looking at someones eyes and they look down, you're probably going to drop your hands on instinct alone, and they'll blast you in the face. The eyes are easy to lie with, but the body is much harder. People can throw feints and the like, but its not the same as tricking someone with your eyes because you have to reel the feint back in before you can throw the next blow, so it isn't as effective.

EDIT: Holy shit old thread is old o.0

Cool Solar Plex

I can see that with the Solar Plex being the core of the body!
