Light Heavyweights - Unbeaten, Unassigned Fighters *Version 5, 2014*

Light Heavyweights

1)
Patrick Cummins – 4-0-0 - American – 33 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 4-5, Last Fought: Jun ‘13
Cummins is arguably the best wrestler on the light heavyweight list this year – he was a 2X All-American at Penn State, a NCAA runner-up and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the 2012 Olympics. Cummins trains at a great camp at Reign MMA, where he gets in top quality training alongside UFC fighters Mark Munoz & Jake Ellenberger. The 33 year old decided to make the switch to MMA after being brought in as a training partner by King Mo to help him train for a figh, and soon made his pro debut in 2010. However he hit a rocky patch in 2011 when he was forced to put his MMA career on hold in order to serve time in prison for burglary. He successfully returned a year later in 2012 and has has smashed through his first 4 opponents, with none making it out the first round.

2)
Miguel Angelo Gentilini – 5-0-0 - Brazilian – 18 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 0-4, Last Fought: Aug ‘13
Miguel Gentilini has an excellent stand up game - he is a Brazilian karate champion and also holds a perfect 11-0 Muay Thai record. After winning his first fight by decision Gentilini has since finished his most recent 4 fights, winning 3 fights by TKO and the other by submission. He runs his own camp, Gentilini MMA, where he also trains; and he fights for the Brazilian G1 promotion where he is their light heavyweight champion. Incredibly Gentilini made his MMA debut back in 2009 when he was just 14 years old. Now 18 years old, he is still one of the youngest fighters on the 2014 list.

3)
Leonardo Leite – 3-0-0 - Brazilian – 35 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 6-2, Last Fought: Nov ‘13
Although he only has 3 MMA fights to his name, Leonardo Leite comes from one of the best backgrounds on this year’s list – he is a long time Judo black belt and one of the most successful judoka’s ever to compete in jiu-jitsu, becoming a 2X World Jiu-jitsu Champion. Although he has fought all his MMA fights at light heavyweight, he has previously fought in jiu-jitsu competitions at 185 pounds so a drop to middleweight seems possible in the future. He is a late starter in MMA at 35 years old but has fought all 3 of his fights in 2013, finishing one by submission and going to a decision twice. His best win came over the previously unbeaten Diosman De Jesus (3-0). He also trains out of a great camp at Brazilian Top Team.

4)
Stephan Puetz – 9-0-0 - German – 26 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 25-11, Last Fought: Sep ‘13
German fighter Stephan Puetz has had a busy start to his MMA career – he made his debut in 2012 and has fought 9 times already. He is one of the tallest light heavyweights on the list at 6’6” and his accomplishments include winning the 8-man light heavyweight tournament for the German SFC promotion in 2012. He has finished 7 of his 9 fights, with 4 TKO and 3 submission wins. The 26 year old has recently stepped up in competition and beaten Poland’s top heavyweight Dawid Baziak (9-4) and the previously unbeaten Tassilo Lahr (4-0), both of which took place in 2013.

5)
Neal Ewing – 4-0-0 - American – 28 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 5-2, Last Fought: Apr ‘13
A former college American Football player, Neal Ewing has transitioned to MMA well, winning his first 4 fights. Ewing is a shredded 205 pounder and the light heavyweight champion of 24/7 Entertainment, a regional promotion located in Texas. The 28 year old trains out of the up and coming Octagon MMA gym, which also houses other prospects such as UFC fighter Sean Spencer and LFC champion Matt Hobar. Ewing has finished each of his 4 fights so far and in his most recent fight he needed less than 2 minutes to submit the previously unbeaten Ricky McCall (4-0).

6)
Shamir Garcia – 3-0-0 - American – ?? Years Old - Opponent W/L: 4-2, Last Fought: Dec ‘13
Shamir Garcia is a Portuguese born MMA fighter fighting out of America. Although he has just 3 pro fights he has one of the most extensive amateur career’s on the list, being champion of 5 different promotions and holding a 19-2 amateur MMA record. On top of this, he has a great background in striking, holding an 8-0 amateur muay thai record and 2-0 amateur boxing record. Since turning pro in 2013 he has won all 3 fights, with 2 wins by KO and the other by submission. In his most recent fight in December he picked up a good win over veteran Ray Lopez (7-5).

7)
Alberto Pereira Uda – 4-0-0 - Brazilian – ?? Years Old - Opponent W/L: 9-3, Last Fought: Jan ‘13
Brazilian fighter Uda burst onto the scene last January when he submitted one of Brazil’s top Light heavyweight prospects and the previously unbeaten Richardson Moreira (5-0) in the very first round. Uda has destroyed all 4 of his opponents to date, finishing every fight, with 3 submissions victories and 1 TKO, and also holds a victory over the once beaten Albini Muralha (4-1). He spends part of his time training with Nova Uniao, arguably the best camp in Brazil. He has not been fighting very regularly however, with his 4 fights coming over the last 3 years.

8)
Jeremy Osheim – 4-0-0 - American – 26 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 5-4, Last Fought: May ‘13
A huge light heavyweight at 6’5”, Osheim has made a perfect start to his professional MMA career after going 4-1 as an amateur. The young American comes from a wrestling background but has taken to stand up since starting MMA 6 years ago and even has a 1-0 kickboxing record. Osheim has battered his first 4 opponents, showing his well rounded game with 2 submission wins and 2 TKO wins. His best win came last January when he needed less than a minute to submit Lamont Stafford (4-3).

9)
Michal Pasternak – 8-0-0 - Polish – 29 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 8-9, Last Fought: Nov ‘13
One of two Polish fighters on this year’s light heavyweight list, Pasternak has won all 8 fights since making his debut late in 2012. Pasternak trains out of one of Poland top gym’s at Okninski MMA and among his training partners include UFC fighter Krzysztof Jotko. Pasternak was a champion as an amateur and he has finished 5 of his 8 victories as a pro. Among his wins include Arkadiusz Jedraczka (4-8), Wojciech Orlowski (3-5) and Piotr Kalenik (3-0).

10)
Keith Berish – 4-0-0 – American – 27 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 8-2, Last Fought: May ‘13
27 year old American fighter Keith Berish is an extremely well rounded fighter – he wrestled at Kingston High School and is a brown belt in jiu-jitsu. He has fought at light heavyweight his whole career but in his most recent fight he fought at a 195 pound catchweight, so a move to middleweight looks likely in the future. The 27 year old held an impressive 5-0 amateur record before turning pro and since being a professional he has finished 3 of his 4 wins, most recently beating Patrick Walsh (3-0).

11)
Luis Felipe Lins – 7-0-0 - Brazilian – ?? Years Old - Opponent W/L: 15-7, Last Fought: Oct ‘13
Brazilian fighter Luis Felipe Lins is a 8 year veteran of MMA, posting a perfect 7-0 record during that time. After fighting 4 times in 2005 and 2006, he then took a 5 year hiatus from the sport. Since returning in 2011 he has since won 3 more fights, including 2 fights last year. He was originally thought to be signed by Bellator in 2012 but that signing never materialised. Since moving on he has become the light Heavyweight champion of the Bitetti combat promotion, winning the title in his most recent fight by beating Armando Sixel (7-2) via TKO. He trains at a regional Nova Uniao camp alongside UFC veterans Rony Markes and Jussier Da Silva, and has been to the judges’ scorecards just twice, winning 4 fights by TKO and 1 by submission.

12)
Gideon Drotschie – 5-0-0 – South African – 26 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 10-5, Last Fought: Nov ‘13
The lone South African fighter on the light heavyweight list, Gideon Drotschie is very young in his fight career having only started training in MMA in 2010. The 26 year old fights for the reputable EFCA promotion and is their interim light heavyweight champion. During his time with the promotion he has beaten fighters such as Danie Van Heerden (6-5) and Lance Ceronio (2-2). In his most recent fight he got an extremely impressive victory over TUF veteran Fraser Opie (11-5). The 26 year old has finished each of his 5 fights, with 3 TKO wins (all due to elbows) and 2 submission wins.

13)
Ray Sloan – 5-0-0 - American – 29 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 3-9, Last Fought: Nov ‘13
Ray Sloan is a training partner of UFC fighter Joey Beltran and is an accomplished grappler, holding a brown belt in jiu-jitsu. He trains at Excel Jiu-Jitsu and fights for the regional promotion Xplode Fight Series. He is 5-0 so far in his MMA career with all wins by submission and all 5 fights have taken place in 2013. He has not fought very experienced opponents however, with his best win just over Cole Thomas (2-1).

14)

The 24 year old fights for the French promotion 100% Fight and his best win to date is a knockout of Max Renard (2-1). He has finished 4 of his fights by submission and 3 by TKO, and in November he defeated 2 men in the same night.

Steve Cnudde – 4-0-0 - Belgian – 25 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 11-2, Last Fought: Apr ‘13
The only fighter from Belgium out of all 230 on the 2014 list, Cnudde is one of the top Judokas in Belgium. In 2012 he stopped 2 men in one night (both by 1st round TKO) to win a 4-man tournament and win the BB Beatdown light heavyweight title. Although he has fought all 4 of his MMA fights at light heavyweight he has competed in judo at as low as 180 pounds, so a move to middleweight at some point in the future would seem a possibility. He has finished all 4 of his fights with a mix of TKO and submissions and in his most recent fight in April he beat Dmitry Irlitsin (3-1) for the Russian Pro FC promotion.

16)
James Austin Heidlage – 6-0-0 - American – 24 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 12-7, Last Fought: Oct ‘13

Luis Funari is a protégé of UFC fighter Fabio Maldonado and trains out of his camp in Brazil. He is a brown belt in jiu-jitsu and has won many regional jiu-jitsu tournaments in his belt category. He has gone a perfect 4-0 so far in his MMA career and is yet to go to the judges’ scorecards, submitting 3 of his opponents and winning the other due to an injury. His best win came in his most recent fight in November over the previously unbeaten Ewerton Ferreira (2-0).

The last of 8 Brazilian fighters on this year’s light heavyweight list, Klidson De Abreu has put together an excellent 5-0 record on the regional circuits in Brazil. He has never been to the judges’ scorecards in his career, finishing all 5 fights with a mix of submission and TKO wins, including 3 wins in less than 2 minutes. He holds a couple of solid wins, needing just 45 seconds to submit the previously unbeaten Matheus Scheffel (4-0) in 2012 and beating veteran Eli Reger (8-12) in his most recent fight.

24)
Rasim Kurbanismailov – 3-0-0 - Russian – 27 Years Old - Opponent W/L: 7-2, Last Fought: Dec ‘13
The only fighter from Russia on the light heavyweight list, Kurbanismailov has made it look easy so since making his debut in May, with two stoppage victories and a decision. 7-0 LHW Alexey Butorin is fighting 34-18 Anthony Ruiz in Sochi on August 9th.

Could be a fight that catapults Butorin to bigger things.

Mattandbenny has seemingly completely disappeared from the forum, shame as he posted a lot of great statistic based information.
