I went with Forrest because he & Shogun would make for an exciting fight. If Shogun demolishes Forrest, then he looks good, if he beats Forrest in a war, then he still looks good.
Geez, to the people voting Machida, why? You want Shogun to look awesome, right? Machida would be the worst possible matchup for him because Machida would counter Shogun's crappy punches. I love Shogun, but let's be real here, his stand-up sucks, at least, his punches do.
After he beats Forrest, then Joe Silva can make him whomp Rampage again. Keep him away from Lyoto Machida, seriously, Shogun's style would not defeat him.
It's going to take a certain type of fighter to defeat Lyoto Machida, and someone who throws wildy won't cut it. Lyoto doesn't suck on the ground, so I don't see Shogun doing anything there.

Machida isn't the best matchup for Shogun, though. Why would you want to see Shogun run at Machida, and get countered? Stick some guy who's a good fighter, and could have an exciting fight, like Forrest. Look, I wouldn't mind a Shogun vs Lyoto fight down the road, like when Shogun has had maybe 3 to 4 fights in the Octagon, but until then, keep Machida away from him.
