Damone's Fight Of The Week For 06/06/07.
http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...-rich-franklin
Lyoto Machida vs Rich Franklin (Inoki Bom Ba Ye 2003).
Lyoto's best win, and a nice showing of what Lyoto can do when pushed by a fighter. He didn't just beat Rich, he dominated him. Just look at Franklin, he's not even in the fight, and let's Lyoto run a clinic on him.
Discuss.

you hear that alot lately, when Franklin loses, "He wasn't really in the fight".
Machida needs some serious respect. UFC can make crazy money if they start advertising him as the guy who beat Franklin and Penn, kinda like Rampage with Chuck, CRAZY MONEY! plus he has the skills to back it up

Cool, he has the skills to beat people in lighter weight divisions. His last fight was boring as hell.

I thought the Heath fight was good. Nothing super spectacular but it was a solid technical bout.

Rich was not yet a MW at the time. Plus, Lyoto's not a huge LHW.

As a Rich Franklin fan, it pains me whenever this fight is discussed

This was a great show in my opinion. Yeah Lyoto destroys Rich , I miss the uni brow, bald and big Machida. This fight is what caused Franklin to move down a weight class......and Lyoto has been dropping weight since then, If Rich gets the belt back you know they'll (ufc) push for the rematch.

Totally separate event. I believe Fedor got in some trouble with Pride for choosing Inoki over Shockwave 2003.

Some people just cannot appreciate Machida's technique. I actually enjoyed his fight with Heath, it was an excellent display of Machida's skills. If you really want to see Machida in an exciting fight, you need to pair him up with someone who is wild like Griffin.
