Hackleman discusses Chuck Liddell’s loss

John Hackleman discusses Chuck Liddell’s disappointing loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who they want to fight next and when. Plus, you don’t want to miss what he had to say regarding the rumors of Liddell’s partying too much as well as why he doesn’t like the way Jackson is handling the win.
PC: How are you doing John?

JH: Good. Chuck’s right here training. He’s back. We cut down the break in between fights. We have to get back a little quicker and get back into it slowly.

PC: Looking back at the Rampage fight, was there something he could’ve done differently or do you think he just got caught?

JH: No. Nah, he got caught. He could’ve done things different, but it happened. He saw an opening and he took it and Chuck got caught. It happens to everyone obviously. If no one ever capitalized on mistakes, no one would ever lose. He got caught. He made a mistake and that was it. He made a mistake, but then he didn’t make a mistake at the same time. He went for an opening and just like in any fight, it’s about timing and that’s what happened; couldn’t have done anything any different.

PC: I know this was a disappointing loss for you guys. When Chuck went down, did you think he would recover or did you know it was over?

JH: I knew it. As soon as I saw him get hit, I knew it was over. I think John did a great job.

PC: It’s been so long since Chuck has lost a fight. How is he dealing with the loss mentally?

JH: I’m not in his mind, but he’s right here training already. We talked after the fight and we’ve gone to breakfast a couple of times and talked about some things in the future. It’s like he said after the fight, he saw an opening and went for it and he paid the price.

PC: Have you guys heard anything from the UFC about when they would like Chuck to fight again?

JH: No. ASAP! As soon as possible for us.

I believe him when he says ''chuck will be back''

I gotta start rooting for him now that he has so many haters on his back.

I wonder how long it will take before they have Liddel vs Rampage 3! I have noticed alot of ppl have jumped of the bandwagon since the loss! Oh well "F" them............

It's good to know he's back in the PIT training already, getting ready for Wanderlei.

You know, you can be a Chuck fan and still admitt that there are fighters in the 205 division that are just better than him. I think Chuck is a great fighter with a really cool attitude, but I'm also not blind to see that there are at least 3 fighters from Pride that will cause major problems for him: Wanderlei, Shogun, and of course Rampage.

Chuck is very impressive against wrestlers and grapplers, but now he is going to face strikers who might be able to outstrike him. If you can't be honest about that then I think we can see who the real nuthugger is.

That will be a great fight. I think the casual UFC fan would love a Chuck Rampage 3. I personally am done with it. Rampage is a bad matchup for chuck. He is the better fighter, he proved it, let's move on. No disrespect to Chuck, love the guy and I cant wait to see him make his return to the octagon.

There is no shame in loosing to Quinton Jackson, Jackson is the better fighter out of the 2. I think if Liddel is going to get back on top he needs to stop this rematch after rematch and avenging old losses crap.

I have to agree with that statement......somehow I think it becomes a mental roadblock for Chuck. Just take the opponents as they come and if it so happens he climbs the ranks and Rampage is still champ and Chuck is #1 contender, then worry about Rampage again.
