Win some Lose some
Well I had my first MMA match yesterday.

Now the important bit I suppose: I lost (judges decision)

I think he was a better fighter than me but I had my moments and if I'd have listened to my corner (I dunno everythin they said washed right over me at points) then I would have locked the achilles lock I had on him properly and won but alas I didnt and that was my best real chance of winning.

I weighed in at 71.3kg (2.2lbs approx to a kg) and he weighed in at 78.6kgs so there was also a big weight difference but I don't think that really should affect anything as a fight is a fight however you look at it.

I really enjoyed the experience and already have 2 more fights lined up in the coming months.

Any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer. Oh and my favourite moment was me somehow landing a spinning back kick, which if you know how much i think of my standup would surprise anyone and certainly shocked my corner and got a rise out of the crowd lol.

Nice to see a competitor who can come out of a loss with a good attitude about it.

Post a video of your next fight. Or this one if you have it.

Shake it off, man & let's get set for the next two (but you seem to have a pretty good attitude about it).
How did you feel gong into this match-up? Any injuries, concerns, overly-nervous?

How about a little break down of how the fight went? He take you down a lot? Land a bunch of punches? Go for submissions? What's your style/background? His? :thumb03:

u got a video?

I have a video (or at least some of the match) saved on an SD card.
To be fair I don't really remember that much of the match I remember definetly feeling like he schooled me the whole first round but I did better in the second.

I've only ever trained in MMA and have done so for about 9 months all told but that has been sporadic and have only been training well since xmas.
As far as I know from speaking to him he is much the same.

I felt fine going into the match was in a kind of calm state my biggest concern was that he weighed so much more than me lol. But ya know how it goes I was still jus happy to be in there.

And hey I know there were points where I could have won so I can't be THAT disheartened even though I was absolutely gutted to lose.

Sounds like you got a bad deal from whatever organization this was. You're a first timer lightweight, and they put you up against a welterweight. What was the deal with the weight divisions in this organization?

Props for taking on the challenge, but they should've given you a more evenly matched oppenent for your first fight.

Yea I know but I don't know if it was a mistake on someones part or what. It was his debut as well though so ya know wasn't like he had a few fights behind him or anything.

Hopefully next time around I'll get someone I can beat and enjoy myself even more.

ive got to give u credit for just fighting win or loose and ur attitude is great im such a bad loser so its refreshing to hear you talk the way you do

Oh I dunno I absolutely hate losing I kinda wanted to go absolutely mad cos I lost, but for a start I was knackered as it was and didnt have the energy to waste lol and secondly I would never have disrespected my trainer like that as it would have embarrassed the whole club and not just myself.

As it is I'm jus doing my best to look on the brightside of everything cos if ya always look at the bad you're gonna miss all the great things that happen in life :)
