In interesting fight that I never really hear talked about..
Now I know that Shogun and Big Nog are in different weight classes but with all the jumping around in weight classes, I see this fight being entirely plausible. He all saw how great Rogerio vs Shogun was with Rua edging out Lil Nog in a close but unanimous decision. But how would the larger Nogueira fare against Shogun?? Would Shogun be able to out wrestle the larger Nogueira the way he did Rogerio? Or would Big Nog overwhelm Shogun and have his way with him??
I honestly think this fight could go either way. I think Shogun could outwrestle Rodrigo for portions of this fight but I also think Big Nog could give Shogun problems with his sick grappling, and sheer size advantage on the ground. Id say if it went to a decision Shogun would win a SD, but if it didnt than that means that Nog was too strong on the ground and submitted him. |
I've always been interested in this fight and Id really like to see it. I think it would be very close but I think big Nog would take it. Shogun would stand a very good chance though.

I dont know about this one. Nog's striking keeps getting better and better so you know he would probably school Shogun standing. I cant see this fight being at anything other then heavyweight so the size advantage would just be to much too. On the ground things could get really interesting but I think Rodrigo would be able to control him on the ground and probably pound him out. Would be an interesting match up either way.

Big Nog only lost once to a fighter who was smaller than him. That was Dan Henderson, which was 7 years ago. Other than that he has only lost to Fedor and Josh Barnett, and he constantly dominates other elite heavyweights. I really don't see him losing to a smaller opponent at this point in his fighting career. Besides, if Babalu could submit Shogun, I don't think Big Nog would have any trouble.
Shogun's a great fighter, but Big Nog is on a different level. |
I am a huge Babalu fan, but if he fought shogun again.....
My money is on shogun |
The question is..How much better is Rodrigo than Rogerio?? Im sure he is a little bit better but only thing I can see a difference in is their slight size and stregnth difference. And im not sure who said it but I dont think that Nog has better striking than Shogun. Rogerio is actually a better boxer than Rodrigo and Shogun held more than his own in that fight.

Again, both elite fighters with almost identical styles, but IMO Rodrigo just has that slight edge that makes a big difference in a fight. |
