I think the rules are different in pro mma, but I don't know if there is anything you have to do to have a pro mma bout. Is it the same as other sports where its pro if you get payed loads?

I'm pretty sure you just have to have a promoter from an organization like bodog or UFC notice you and want to sign you.

no because you have pro MMA records before coming into the ufc
like houston alexander was 7-1 before going into the ufc
and in local fights they have am and pro fights listed seperatly on the card

I think it's mostly about being ready.
Generally most fighters starting off have 1 - 4 fights at semi-pro and from there on decide whether or not they are ready to go pro.

I think that you have to get licensed by the Athletic Commission, then fight for a professional promoter and have the records reported.

This is just the way I see it, but I'm sure there is a lot more to it then that.

Great question actually. Repped
