How To Get Former World Champion Boxer Holly Holm Into The UFC

This is my first article for a website called H4 Entertainment as part of a collaboration effort:
Quote:
On Wednesday March 19th, it was announced that negotiations failed between the UFC and former World Champion boxer Holly Holm‘s manager Lenny Fresquez for Holm to enter the UFC. Since transitioning from boxing to MMA, Holm has gone 6-0 with her most notable win being over Jan Finney at Bellator 91.

Despite her impressive record, Holm is not ranked in the top 10 of the women’s bantamweight division mainly due to her lack of ranked opponents on her resume. Making the announcement was UFC president Dana White who has had a history of being frustrated during contract negotiations with certain fighters. With the possibility of a UFC debut out for the time being, Holm has one of two career choices which could get her back to the UFC negotiating table.

The first option would be for Holm to continue fighting on the regional circuit. At present Holm is signed to regional promotion Legacy Fighting Championship where she will be competing for their inaugural Women’s Bantamweight Championship at Legacy FC 30 on April 5th against Juliana Werner.

This will be the first of two fights left on Holm’s contract which has an opt out clause. The most logical choice, should she go with the regional option, would be to finish out her contract with Legacy FC and either re-sign with the promotion or go with another regional promotion that could help her get more exposure and possibly a larger name opponent. While this could be a beneficial career move, there is a severe lack of big name opponents on the regional circuit.

Option number two would actually be the more logical choice which would be to sign with the all women’s Invicta Fighting Championships. The majority of big name fighters outside of the UFC on in this promotion which would give Holm the chance to challenge herself.

Several potential opponents include Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion Lauren Murphy, TUF 18 alums Peggy Morgan and Roxanne Modafferi, and veteran Tanya Evinger. This would be the best way for Holm to test her skills againt opponents who have been on the big stage while building her value. There’s also the off chance she could face a bantamweight Cris “Cyborg” Justino and pull an upset.

Obviously nothing is set in stone but Holm needs to develop a sense of urgency in working her way back up to the negotiating table. At 32 years old she isn’t getting any older. Time will tell if this champion boxer can become a MMA champ.

Dana White has already said "Not interested whatsoever".

Holm needs to face a few more older cans that haven't fought in two years like her last victim.

6-6 was the record of her last fight, 2-1 was the fighter before, 2-2 before that, then 1-0, 8-10 before that...

Want Holm in the UFC? Her management should get her some proper fights first, then talk the big money they were asking!

I come back to this yet again, outside of the hardcore fans that make up forums like this, most people can't name a single female fighter outside of Rousey. It's not like Holm is bringing some big name value to the table. She has done nothing to deserve a fight with Rousey and I can't think of any real compelling reasons for her to be gifted one. Sign her, let her fight a couple of times while Rousey adds Alexis Davis to her victim list and then let her have title shot.

Like I said in the article maybe a few fights in Invicta may get her into the UFC. I do agree though that an immediate title shot is by no means warranted. Aside from Jan Finny she's fought no namers.

Finney was a decent fighter until Cyborg was allowed to go 2 more rounds than was comfortable to watch, with her. Holm's picked up the broken pieces and beat on them some more.

Yeah Invicta need to get her in, depending on how much money her delussional management are asking.

This is how I feel about Holm. Talented but hasn't proved a thing against anyone of note or even close to it. I know you have to start somewhere, but you have to do better than this to be considered a UFC level fighter imo.

Probably why Dana White didn't think she was worth it.
