Winner Taps Out In Amateur MMA Fight

I find it odd, like a publicity stunt except Dana would never hire a fighter that did that.

idk like he said he isn't a pro and it doesn't sound like he wants to be a pro just wants a good fight and was doing it for fun using someone as a punching bag is not his idea of fun so he didn't.

The rationale behind his action is perfect, I don't see a problem with what he did. The context of his action speaks volumes coupled with what looked like a promising performance, shouldn't hinder any opportunities he might create for himself at all.

I like MMA less because of this forum

I was just going to post this article and fully agree with GDPofDRB. They are amateurs so their record doesn't mean anything really, and aren't getting paid. Plus he probably felt like the guy he was fighting wasn't ready for someone at his level and didn't want to hurt they guy anymore than he already did. Props to him.

Wow. Huge props to that man for not beating down his clearly outclassed opponent. This is the kind of stuff that reminds me of A. Silva not wanting to pummel some of his opponents.

Hmm...I probably would have attempted a submission to finish him. That would be mercy.

Definite props to him though as that's something one doesn't see often in sports in general.

Yah Ape, you are right. Anderson didn't take out Thales cuz he felt bad for em. I'm sure there are others to a degree like Hunt vs Struve although that was AFTER he shattered his jaw. Maybe a better example was when Vitor submitted his friend in an earlier UFC fight because of a gentleman's agreement.

Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

I must be in the minority cos I thought that was complete dick move. Not only that but embarrasing. Both for him but more importantly for his opponent.

All the fighters I know would rather take a beating at the hands of a better, more skilled opponent then them decide they werent good enough to fight them and tap out in front of all their friends and family.
