Parkour

Anyone interested in parkour aka urban free flow? There's a ton of amateur footage on youtube which is pretty cool to watch. I just saw the movie District B-13 with David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli and was wondering if these guys could hang with UFC fighters. Parkour uses some elements of martial arts and is catching on.

All the fighting they do in that movie is just a bunch of fancy movie stuff. I know full well they are great at what they do, I love Parkour, but they don't belong in the octagon, although im sure their conditioning is super good.

Parkour = Art
MMA = Ass-whooping :p

Unless you live out in the middle of nowhere, there's ALWAYS somewhere to practice. You just have to look hard, open your minid and you'll realize what kida stuff can be played on :D

Slammed, I agree with you that a lot of the fight scenes are just fancy choreography, but Cyril was Kung Fu world champ in '97....

The cardio conditioning that Parkour gives is great, and I do it so that I don't have to just "run." Cyril doesn't have the martial arts skill to hang with the UFCs best. He could probably fight in the octagon, but not with the better fighters.

I have a thread running in the MMA training section if you want to check it out.

it's definitely a great way to get your cardio workout, but it also sharpens your mental focus.

we all know that is the difference between a good fighter and a great fighter. maybe parkour will catch on as a training routine as you suggest ironman.

does anyone else use parkour for cardio training?

District B-13 got released today on DVD in the U.S. - a cool movie for any martial arts or parkour fan. for those parkour skeptics, watch this movie and i guarantee you will be impressed.
