On the second part of the Wandy v Chuck bout is a fight between the man who, I think, should be the UFC heavyweight champion versus the actual UFC heavyweight Champion.
Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia (22-2-0)
Vitals: 6'8" 260lbs (118kg)
Style: Miletich Fighting Systems
Titles: UFC Heavyweight Champion
Fact: Tim Sylvia has not gone to the ground since losing to Andrei Arlovski at UFC 51, where he was quickly submitted.
Streak: won 5 (has won 8 of his last 10 fights)
Josh "The Baby-faced Assassin" Barnett (18-3-0)
Vitals: 6'3" 250lbs (113kg)
Style: Wrestling
Titles: None
Fact: Josh is no stranger to beating taller men. He has successfully grounded and pounded Semmy Schilt (6'11") and Gan McGee (6'10").
Streak: won 3 (won 8 of his last 10 fights)
Barnett hasn't been KO'd since UFC 30, by Pedro Rizzo and he wasn't KO'd when he last fought Cro-cop.
When he crushed Mark Hunt, who has a way lower center of gravity than guys he's used to fighting, in 2 minutes I was convinced that the Barnett who fought in the UFC was back.
Barnett easaly. His ground game is way superior than Tims and he can stand with anyone, has only been knocked out ones in his career against Pedro Rizzo after a stupid hands down goin in to clinch mistake that he paid for against the vicious striker.Tim has a punchers chance thats it but i dont see it
I've never seen Tim drop anyone with one big clear punch. He throws great combinations, but so does Mark Hunt and Semmy Schilt and Barnett crushed both of them pretty easily.
I don't think the puncher's chance matters, but maybe I'm not giving Tim enough credit... on second thought, no.
Barnett would win. He has very good striking and good striking defence. He also has amazing submission something tim doesn't. Just one question though. They are both steroid user's. So juice fight or no juice fight?
LMAO I'd go with Tim on the Juice...and if they fight with no juice I'd say Josh lol
But I guess it really would depend on where they fight...PRIDE or UFC And how well the other can play in the other mans backyard. Away games are always the hardest
Well Josh did fight in the UFC before...but lost to Pedro Rizzo, who later lost to Andrei Arlovski, who later lost to Tim Sylvia....
So any fighter can land any puch to end the fight at any time
You know what ironman < this is one of the hardest pride vs ufc mathups yet.... sylvias striking vs barnetts grappling... alll it takes wit Sylvia is one punch , and Josh barnett is capable of taking anyone down... i dont think ive ever seeen anyone take sylvia down before , and Barnett has only beeen KO'd once in his careeer, its a reallly tufff calll, i think if SYLVIA is able to keep barnettt on the outside he can get the KO, if not Barnettt by sub , id bet my $$$ on the underdog in this one
Those of you who say "well he dropped Andrei with one punch." That's actually a little bit off. He rocked him with one shot, but it took about 4 or 5 more after that to actually get the KO.
For those of you who say, "well, Barnett lost to Pedro Rizzo" and then go through the chain, remember that Andrei fought Rizzo long after he was over the hill, while Barnett fought him in his prime.
Barnett doesn't get rocked anymore. Mark Hunt was destroyed in 1:44 seconds. That's speed and efficiency.
Barnett definitely was on more juice than Sylvia is, because if Sylvia took his kind of dosage he would never make weight.
I agree fully. Neither Andrei or Sylvia would come close to beating Barnett. People give both AA and Sylvia way too much credit. Sure, they're the best heavyweights in the UFC, but that's not saying much at all. Barnett would have 2 easy wins with these 2.
