4th Annual MMA Freak Awards: Top 10 Comebacks of 2015

There were a few good matches in which one fighter were dominating and the other was able to mount a comeback to take the match. The efforts of these fights are recognized by MMA Freak in the category for these finishes.

The writers votes for the Top 10 Comebacks of 2015 are in and they are as follows:

10) Valdir Araujo‘s win against Steve Carl during The Ultimate Fighter: American Top Team vs. Blackzilians

Blackzilian team member Valdir Araujo was behind when he was able to submit Steve Carl on episode three.

9) Jason Gonzalez‘s win against Tim Welch during The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber

Jason Gonzalez was able to pull a comeback against veteran Tim Welch to get onto Team Faber for the season.

8) Gabrielle Garcia‘s comeback win against Seini Draughn at Rizin FF 2 on Dec. 31, 2015 in Saitama, Japan

In the first match for both women, Gabrielle Garcia was in trouble early before she finished Lei’D Tapa.

7) Patrico Freire‘s comeback win against Daniel Weichel at Bellator 138: Unfinished Business on June 19th

Patricio Freire actually finished round one on the bad end and had to knockout Daniel Weichel in round two.

6) Ross Pearson‘s comeback win against Sam Stout at UFC 185: Pettis vs. dos Anjos on Mar. 14th in Dallas, Tex.

At first Ross Pearson was in trouble but was actually able to knockout Sam Stout in the second round.

5) Andrei Arlovski‘s comeback win against Travis Browne at UFC 187: Johnson vs. Cormier on May 23rd.

This was a quick match and normally heavyweights down last long when one is clipped by Arlovski came back.

4) Alexis Davis’ comeback win against Sarah Kaufman at UFC 186: Johnson vs. Horiguchi on Apr. 25 in Canada

Alexis Davis was losing this match before she was able to pull an armbar against Sarah Kaufman in the second.

3) Miesha Tate‘s comeback win against Sara McMann at UFC 183: Silva vs. Diaz on Jan. 31st in Las Vegas, Nev.

It was amazing to see Miesha Tate actually out wrestle Sara McMann considering McMann’s Olympic resume.

2) Conor McGregor‘s comeback win against Chad Mendes at UFC 189: Mendes vs. McGregor on Jul. 11 in Nev.

Chad Mendes took down Conor McGregor several times before McGregor got up and knocked Mendes down.

1) Robbie Lawler‘s comeback win against Rory MacDonald at UFC 189: Mendes vs. McGregor on Jul. 11 in Nev.

Not only was this match with Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald a great comeback but also a fight of the year.
