Nick Diaz, Rousimar Palhares, Hector Lombard, Tares Saffiedine and Rick Story are ineligible for ranks:
Top 10 MMA Welterweights (12/11/15)
1) Robbie Lawler (1)
Robbie Lawler fought a very close fight with Carlos Condit which many feel Condit won at UFC 195 on January 2nd. There’s a number of rumors as to who Lawler will fight next including Nick Diaz and Tyron Woodley.
2) Johny Hendricks (2)
Following a weight cut scare, Johny Hendricks will be fighting Stephen Thompson at UFC 196 on February 6th. Depending on circumstances, Hendricks might be a fight or two away from a trilogy match with Lawler.
3) Tyron Woodley (3)
Tyron Woodley supposedly gets the next crack at Robbie Lawler but will become ineligible for the rankings. There are rumors however, that Nick Diaz will be getting the shot ahead which would mean Woodley fights again.
4) Rory MacDonald (4)
Former title challenger Rory MacDonald has been inactive with his war against Robbie Lawler at UFC 189. He did take quite a beating and will need a rebound match somewhat soon in order to build himself back up.
5) Carlos Condit (5)
Carlos Condit pushed both himself and Robbie Lawler to the limit and some feel he should be UFC Welterweight Champion. This isn’t the first time that Condit got a title fight and came up short once again.
6) Matt Brown (6)
An ankle injury sidelined Matt Brown for the past few months which scrapped his fight with Kelvin Gastelum. In order for Brown to make his way back to title contention he needs to face a high profile opponent.
7) Ben Askren (7)
Ben Askren is half way through his six fight contract but is past the two years and he hasn’t fought since April 24th. There’s also the possibility that due to ONE Championships’ weight policy that Askren may move to middleweight.
8) Demian Maia (8)
In his latest outing, Demian Maia dominated Gunnar Nelson at UFC 194 on December 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada. A few more matches and Maia could find himself in title contention in his second weight class.
9) Neil Magny (N/A)
Neil Magny kicks off his 2016 by welcoming back Hector Lombard from his suspension at UFC Fight Night: Hunt vs. Mir on March 20th. This is another chance for Magny to continue making a statement to UFC brass.
10) Andrey Koreshkov (N/A)
Despite being Bellator Welterweight Champion, Andrey Koreshkov hasn’t fought since July 17th at Bellator 140.
Honorable Mentions
Jake Shields, Erick ‘Indio’ Silva, Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Dong Hyun Kim, Jon Fitch
Sucks so bad that Askren's career is wasting away. I guess he's happy making six figures a fight in ONE FC, but I wonder how far he could go if he just took the pay cut and rolled the dice in the UFC.
He's probably making more money in One FC then he would've in WSOF. I'm not sure if the UFC would be willing to sign him after this but maybe Coker would welcome Askren back. Hard to tell because he has three more fights on his contract.
For what it's worth I commented on an article on Twitter about Askren wanting Bendo to come to ONE FC and fight him and FrontRowBrian sent me some DMs about it saying he was gonna retire pretty soon.
Apparently those two are friends but who knows with FRB!
