Randy Couture’s UFC 74 Gloves up for Auction
The gloves worn by Randy Couture when he defeated Gabriel Gonzaga at last month’s UFC 74 event are up for action, and all proceeds benefit the Ryan Bennett Memorial Fund.
The auction can be found on eBay. As of 11 a.m. ET on Monday, the item had received 30 bids — with a high bid of $3,550.
The auction ends Friday at 2:18 a.m. ET/Thursday at 11:18 p.m. PT.
UFC 74 took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Aug. 25. In the night’s main event, Couture defeated Gonzaga with a third-round TKO. It was the heavyweight champ’s first successful title defense since scoring a unanimous-decision victory over then-titleholder Tim Sylvia at UFC 68.
Bennett, a hugely popular journalist and broadcaster in the MMA world and co-founder of MMAWeekly.com, died in a car accident in May 2006. Bennett, who was also an official UFC broadcaster from UFC 33 to UFC 40, was survived by his wife, Tonya, and their four children. Numerous MMA and UFC superstars have donated auction items with proceeds benefiting the fund, which was created to help Bennett’s family.
