Late Breaking News: Fedor Has Signed with Russian Promotion
I have heard this rumor, which again is only a RUMOR at this point, but I am listening to TAGG Radio right now and Trigg stated that he has news from a very reliable source inside of Fedor's camp that a new promotion in Russia has signed Fedor Emelianenko to a 3 year deal. He just signed the contract apparently, and they are planning to break the news very soon. They are giving him a ridiculous amount of money, around like 10 million!! It's a new promotion in Russia that has formed from the split in M-1. Now this is a rumor right now and even Trigg himself said that he isn't 100 percent sure of the truth, just because of the amount of money they are reportedly giving Fedor for 3 years. Take this as rumor, but it sounds like Fedor has signed with an MMA promotion in Russia and will NOT be coming to the UFC!!
Take this for what it's worth right now, but I just wanted to break this to every Fedor fan who is hoping that he comes to the UFC (me included)

yeah, if it's true, Fedor will never be looked at as the #1 Heavyweight in the world any longer. There's no one out there for him to fight except for Josh Barnett, but Barnett has a high asking price, and also has stated that he would retire before taking a pay cut and getting signed somewhere for just one fight. Looks like Fedor is going to be KO'ing cans for the next 3 years, and getting paid damn good money to do so.

KenFlo there are some guys out their for him to fight Sergei looked good in his last fight, Overeem is still out there you mentioned Barnett, Arona could move up to HW and fight him again, Rogerio Nogueira could move up to HW and fight him, I'm not sure what the deal is with Hunt but if he isn't in the UFC he could fight Fedor, Sokdoujou is out there, and lastly Andrei Arlovski is having a lot of contract issues if he leaves UFC he could fight Fedor.
Their are enough great fighters that the UFC has ignored for Fedor to fight.

but do think he'll still be looked at as number one in say two years time.....if hes not fighting for a mainstream org

If fedor does sign with another organization, who's going to take his place as number 1 HW in the world? Just because Fedor doesn't fight with the UFC doesn't mean his Skill level isn't going to improve with each fight. Smart fighters learn from every fight regardless, and I think there are a lot of talented guys that are not in the UFC.
If Randy Couture, reigns champ for years to come, dominating everyone in the HW division, then maybe I'll consider him the best HW in the world, but until then he has a lot to prove. Defending your belt a few times, doesn't constitute it.

sure it will
if hes fighting lower level fighters.....by that i mean lower then cc, big, nog, and even randy
he will fall in rankings
the idea to be the best you gotta beat the best

It all depends. If a fighter like Vera or Sylvia wins the title and dominates the HW divison he might not be but I don't think that anyone will be able to hold on to the HW title for very long and Couture has never had a long title rein in the past so I highly doubt he will still be champion in 2 years.
Now if a fighter Fedor hasn't beaten wins the title and runs through the HW divison including Nogueira than yes I think Fedor will lose his #1 spot but if he fights maybe 1 or 2 good to very good fighters a year and in the three years fights either Arlovski or Barnett than I think he could very well hold on to the #1 ranking.
