PRIDE vs. UFC

Im not sure of Pride's contract structure, and we all know of UFC's 6 figure contract. It's reported that Chuck Liddell recived 275,000 for Liddell Couture III. I remember when Tyson got 27 million for knocking out Spinks in the first round, (and Bobby Bonillia signing a 5year 25 million contract with the Mets and ushering in the era of the free-agent and destroying the players love of money over the game, but thats another story ) an INSANE purse then and even by todays standards. My brother in-law use to train with Lutter here in Ft Worth, and was always talking about how fighters would snub UFC to make more fighting in Japan.

A trend here?
Present day MMA fighters choosing money over being the best like in those other so-called sports?

The differences between the two venues:

UFC has the greatest fighters in the world:
UFC fills casino Ball-rooms with 15,000+ fans:
PRIDE pays there fighters more:
PRIDE fills olimpic size stadiums with 50,000+ fans:
UFC international PPV coverage?
PRIDE international coverage? Yes, I watched a few.

Any other differences of the top two venues?
And the love of money

Genki Sudo and Bill Mahood are not in the UFC any more GSPFAN, infact half of those fighters rarely fight in the UFC.

GSPfan, Pride could drop a list of international fighters twice as long as that. Prides nonamerican fighters are better than UFCs as well.

GSPfan your list is inaccurate those all of those fighters have faught for the UFC at one time but many are no longer under contract or are no longer exculsively signed to the UFC

good effort thou lol

both Coleman and Barnett would kick Tim Sylvia's ass and regardless of their age they are still top american hw fighters

Agreed. I wasn't trying to show that the UFC has a bigger or better pool of international fighters. I was only trying to show that 97% American is inaccurate.

I don't have access to Dana's office to see who is under contract at this very moment. However, allmost all of those on the list have fought in the UFC in the last 16 months.

Coleman over Sylvia???

yes Sylvia sucks that much lol

my point is UFC has very little international talent, a handful of guys signed to a decent contract the rest fight on an as needed basis, it's very basic concept of fight promotions, why pay a guy alot to fight exclusively for u when u can pay him a little to fight whenever u want him too

Coleman can't beat Sylvia if Sylvia faught the way he did at UFC 41 against Ricco. Plus theres a huge thread in the PRIDE section about this issue, someone should close this randomness.
