Franky looked to his corner and they said "break it if he won't tap". Frank adjusted his position and cranked the hell outta Edwin's arm and forced him to tap. Great show of heart by Edwin even though he ultimately lost.
Dewees has a lot of heart, but this is a serious mismatch. Good to see Trigg back on the winning track. I'm probably one of the few people that actually likes 'Twinkle Toes'.

This brings up a good point, I can respect a guy for not wanting to tap, but when you rely on fighting to put food on the table you may want to consider tapping earlier instead of risking serious injury where you won't be able to fight for a long time after. Just my opinion.

Yeah you have to respect someone that's not going to give up. Reminds me of this picture:

The guy that runs my mma gym says that when you get caught up in the adrenaline of the fight, sometimes you'd rather let a little damage get done to you just so you can keep fighting. Since I've never been in the ring, I can't speak from experience. Regardless, gotta give Dewees credit for trying to stick it out.

Damn, Trigg looked really solid out there, working from the bottom really well. Mayhem vs Trigg 2 should be fun.

I didn't think Mayhem looked good at all.

He didn't. Which was surprising. I think he actually ended up making Kennedy look better than he is. The stand up wasn't there and neither were the submission attempts really. I mean hell, I can't imagine a situation where Mayhem (in top form) should have given his back to Kennedy. But he kept going for that damn throw... and that throw is risky the first time... there shouldn't even be a second attempt imo.

Question about HDNet

With HDNet Fights starting to blow up, the NYE show with Fedor, the IFL Grand Prix Finals and the news that HDNet Fights having nearly 24 shows next year, I have a question for all of those who do in fact have this channel, mainly for DirecTV subscribers, but any feedback will help.

I don't have an HDTV and (although this may be a really stupid question), I was wondering if you can still get this package on a normal TV. Again, I'm not sure how this works, but I saw on the DirecTV site that the upgrade is only like 10 dollars a month. Add the HDNet channel price which apparently is like 5 dollars, and you get everything for 15 dollars a month. Again, since I don't have an HDTV, I wouldn't get to see the action as well as some, but if it is possible, I would pay the additional 15 dollars a month to see the HDNet Fights cards twice a month.

So, my main question is if someone with a normal TV (only a couple years old) could upgrade their DirecTV subscription and add the HD package without an actual HDTV? Again,I realize this might be a very stupid question, but I would rather ask this then to not be able to see Fedor on NYE . I don't care about the high quality picture, just mainly that I could see all of these upcoming events on this channel.

You can order the High Def. package from your cable company without having an HD compatible television. My roommates and I subscribe to HD so we can watch football in the living room in HD, but none of our tv's in our rooms get HD. It works just fine.

Finally got to watch the fights. This was definetely a nice solid show and came around much sooner then I thought they would be able to throw a show like this together with some decently big names.

Well Mark Cuban is making me happy I live in Dallas. UFC has yet to come by here and Saul Solis's shows are primarily outta Houston. I'm really glad they brought in Kennedy instead of Salmon (not like they had a choice after he was suspended for trying to bite Jorge Santiago's knee). Salmon really had no chance on Miller (even though Miller definitely looked off his game). Thank God for the Mezger-Cuban relationship.

My only problems with the show: 1) the restarts. If the ref stopped the fight to check a cut, he would restart it on the feet. This was particularly apparent in the Miller-Kennedy fight, since they had to check Kennedy's cut twice and both times it was shortly after Miller had taken the fight to the ground. So Miller had to work for the takedown over and over and over. 2) the ref. Even without a cut, if the fight went to the ground and some drunk moron decided to boo... the ref would stand the fight up. It's called "MMA" for a reason. If the fight gets to the ground give them a minute to work for submissions. 3) The time limit in Jason House's fight. Because Jason gassed against Freddy in his last fight, they negotiated 5 3min rounds for this fight. Even though House's opponent agreed to the change in time limit, I still think there should be some kind of uniformity to the format of the show. Sidenote: The cut that stopped House's fight wasn't even over his eye and certainly wasn't hindering his vision.

Thanks man, I was a little bummed that the NYE card was being shown on HDNet because I thought I couldnt get it without an HDTV, but I'm excited for it now!
