The UFC doesn't rely on one guy to be succesful. They can put together great cards every month with as much talent as they have.
I believe M1 stated in their press conference that they're not going to start off big right away...they'll only have 3-4 cards a year. So technically Fedor can fight every ppv until the company takes off.

Good point about the 3-4 fights a year but is anyone going to stick around for that is the question?

A couple of things that I found interesting were the notes on cro-cop and about the lindland fight. He said he feels that cro-cop lost something mentally in the bout with him. Something to the effect of Fedor breaking Cro-Cop's will to fight. Which to a point makes sense seeing as how Cro-Cop's last performances since his fight with Fedor have been pretty lack-luster. Maybe Fedor is right? Has Mirko lost the will or the drive/motivation to fight? I guess we will find out in 2008.

And in reference to the Lindland fight, interesting to note that as soon as Fedor starts bleeding, he realises that this is the same thing that happened when he lost his previous fight. So he does what any self-respecting human being would do. He basically tries to rip Matt's arm off below the elbow. I have never seen an armbar pulled off from that kind of angle before. I would call it an armbar from the north-south position is the closest thing that I would relate it to. Do anybody have a better idea of what they would call this move or is it just an arm-bar from an odd position.

But anyways I hope that you found some interest in this article and I am looking forward to reading your responses as well as getting more info on that crazy russians submissions.

Here is the link to the actual article and it included the Lindland fight, so enjoy.

Thats a pretty standard Sambo Armbar, I thought it was funny after the fight Lindland said he had never seen an armbar like that before and Fedor sort of laughed and said it was standard. Lindland seemed confused

I believe so. Fedor's legion of fans in Japan & Russia, USA will definitely tune in to watch & the haters and naysayers will also tune in to watch to see if Fedor loses. Once the Casual US fan gets wind of Fedor the "undefeated mma fighter" they'll definitely be curious and want to see what he's all about.. and hell maybe become a fan after seeing what fedor can do.

Sometimes i think us living in the US forget that just because a star / athlete isn't well known in the US doesn't mean they're not huge world wide. Take Football (soccer) for example..is hands down the world's most popular sport, yet many in the U.S. never heard of players like Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, or Didier Drogba, to name a few... If they were to walk the streets of NYC, they won't be recognized, but anywhere else in the world..they'll get mobbed by fans and the paparazzi.

Good read. I don't think Fedor is going to take out the UFC or even wants to. He's just going to do his thing. I had never read the part about M-1 paying the UFC champ 1 million more than they make to fight in M-1 though. Fedor vs Couture. They both want the fight, and it'll be sweet when it happens.

I heard that Mirko was extremely confident in his abilities... and after the loss many of his countrymen were angry with him for promising an easy win (sure they lost shit loads of money beliving him)
