Shamrocks ken - Frank who is the best

I really wanted to have this discusion with people who really understand the sport and the history of MMA, so here goes.
Over all i rate Frank Shamrock as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time he has constantly evolved with his fighting style his career and has always strived to improve training practices and and how fighters approach the sport. I feel he has always been a pioneer of the sport and he is the original fighter to move from fighting assiciation to fighting assiciation to test his style and fighting skills. He has held just about every title worth holding and is acknowledged the world over as one of the greatest assests to the sport.

THen you have big brother Ken Shamrock now Ken was pinned by the UFC from the start as the american apponent for Joyce Gracie in the early UFC`S and for the life of me I cant see why anyone would even place him in the top 20 fighters in his era let alone of all time he never held a title of any distinction apart from the ufc super fight Title which wasnt really a belt as he couldnt loose it in a drawn match.
I just dont understand the whole Ken Shamrock thing I have watched almost all his fights UFC and other organisations and I do think he had some very gutsey and hard faught matches I am still abit lost in the whole Ken is an Icon thing. Personally I dont think he is a hall of famer and can name at least 10 greats before him in his early career and about 40 from this era alone.

So basicly can someone explain the KEn thing to me and maybe explain why anyone would think he can take Frank.
Personal opinion aside and even without knowing the fighters , if you take a look at the last couple of fights by these guys and the age and style match up anyone would say Frank to win by stopage early or land slide poits victory.

I dont want this to end up in a mud slining match guys i wanna discuss this properly and please please correct me if im wrong in anyting i said.

well first they fight in associations not assicitions or whatever and for a guy that was in his prime obviously over a decade ago im not sure if i could pick ten fighters that were better back then, but he was always that guy who doesnt give a shit i'll fight you.......people like that attitude(i would bet you do also) so i think he is kinda looked at as an icon for his heart and the fact that if u pull his card, he shows up......totally agree with you in regards to ken loosing to frank but with that said u know ken will fight frank if anyone promotes it....thats what hall of famers

agreed coldcall with most of what you said but 10 guys who were better than KEN in his prime easier than you think

Joyce Gracie
Igor Vovchechin
Rickson Gracie
Bas Rutten
Mark Kerr
Red Herr
Mark Coleman
Don Fry
Gary Godridge
Tank Abbott

and Frank Shamrock who`s career started during Ken`s Prime

I totaly agre with Ken having the fight anyone sort of spirit but about the only time I have seen him be a good loser was his fight with Tito which I have to say took alot of guts for a man well past his prime as Ken was.Every other loss was mared with his ranting and raving at the ref the judges or just by his lack of willingness to fight.
I just dont think that the prevado and the attitude really gets you HALL OF FAME status . There is no decent fight record to back it up there is no string of victories over top class aponents I just dont see the whole Ken thing.I think the top 5 guys in my list in there prime would have beaten Ken in under 5 minutes.

Sorry for the type o`s guy im one handed typing broken hand

ken fought alot better in japan than it the ufc imo.

the reason ken never held a title beside the supper fight and king of pancrese is because he was in the wwf most of his career. if they would have had weight classes and titles in the early days he would have won the title. Remember the reason he had draws in the old days is because there were no judges. He would dominate the fight for almost all 30 minuets but it had to be ruled a draw. the perfect example is his second fight with Royce he dominated most of the fight but they had to stop after 35 minuets. after the fight everyone was yelling shamrock because they thought he won.

here is a video showing him at his best.

but anyway I agree with the statement

frank better in skill
he has done some amazing things like in his fight against tito.

ken better on heart.
ken has alot of heart he fought tito fujita and don with one leg.

I read his biography and got a whole new respect for him and what he did.

good point about the WWF I forgot about that. Bottom line in my opinion Ken Shamrock has never been the best, but i have met the guy and hung out with him in Tampa and he's pretty cool.........maybe people just like the guy and think his name deserves to be mentoned when you talk about hall of the way thats not the case for me...i wouldnt vote some one to the hall unless they belong there, based on skill good list by the way dont know bout Tank....cmon that fat bastard

Frank Shamrock was much, much, much, MUCH better than Ken Shamrock. Ken, in his prime, would get beaten by Frankie Shammy, simply because Frank's a great MMA fighter.
