I think one of the most under rated fighters is Cheick Kongo.

20-3 He has won 4/5 ufc fights. (Needs ground game)

Then I would say Jason Lambert.

23-6 He has won 4/5 ufc fights. (Needs stand up)

Also the man in my avatar Elvis Sinosic...He is sh*t on because of his record.

Tim Sylvia majorly is underrated...People think he is really bad when he is top 5 easily.
Not a fan of Sylvia's style, but I picked him to hold the HW title for 2008.

Cheick Kongo's ground game is far from great and it will never be his bread and butter but it isn't totally non-existant either. The guy has never been finished off of his back in his MMA carreer, granted he has never faced the likes of Nogueria but that really says a lot for his potential to be a dominant force. All he needs is to learn how to sprawl properly and efficiently, as well as channel his immense strength correctly off his back so that he doesn't rely so much on strength to get back standing again. But apart from that imo he has the best standup game in the HW division and has also shown that he isn't reckless and can stick to a solid gameplan. I see Kongo getting past Herring and hopefully earning a shot at the title late this year or early next year. Agree with Sinosic by the way.

That is a good list.
Couldn't agree more about Tanner, Edgar and Quarry. I think people respect Griffin's ability fairly well. Spencer Fischer I think is underrated and VERY underutilized in the UFC. Why hasn't he had a title shot yet? His last several fights have not only been wins but have been the most exciting fights.

Thales Leites has been pulling out some impressive wins also... but I don't think his is a matter of being underrated- i think it has more to do with him just being lower on the ladder. I think by the end of the year we will all know the name.

I think Joe Lauzon and Luke Cummo don't get enough credit (or enough airtime- undercards? REALLY??? not even aired?)
Nick Diaz, while coming off as an insufferable prick, really is a bit underrated. He hasn't been doing so hot as of late, but for a while there he was tearing it up. He went downhill after fighting Sanchez- but he did get an impressive win over Gomi. That fight was soooo fun to watch. The hand waving was ridiculous ( a little unprofessional, but undeniably entertaining).

sam hands of stone stout

The most solid advice I can give to anyone who fights BJ Penn is...do not motivate the guy. Lets face it, BJ although talented, is naturally lazy. Your job is to NOT convince him to step on that treadmill.

I think they were trying to build spencer Fisher to a top contender spot until he lost his last fight to Frank Edgar. He was on his way back up after his loss to Stout when he lost to Hermes Franca, who got a title shot shortly thereafter. I guess he has a habit of losing at just the wrong time.

I also don't understand why the UFC shuns Cummo. He is a TUF runner up, somewhat of a Cinderella story with how he was the last one picked and went to the finals, and always puts on a great fight. There are several guys out there that put on boring, horrible fights, that I would rather see Cummo in their place. Very underrated. He's fighting soon, though I'm sure it will be on an undercard again. Bastards...
