Personally, I think the only time a discussion of this sort can be broached in any way is on a fighter-to-fighter basis. Organization vs. Organization is a chore akin to comparing apples to oranges. No matter how enthusiastic you may be one way or the other, you are still comparing 2 different things and they have to be accepted as that. I think we can all come to terms with that.
But to be completely fair, it may not be the most mature thing to do by stating that one's view is "boarder line retarded" (even though I agree--to a point) because it is just human nature to compare and categorize things. Everyone is put on some sort of scale some time in their lives and (as humans) they will implement their own scale to put things into perspective for themselves. It's an inevitability that can not be completely avoided.
On that end, even though I don't completely agree with Ironman's sig (actually his use thereof) you have to admit that he has encouraged input and posting by having it there. Further, he's encouraged the passing of oppinions and viewpoints back and forth on this forum by doing these threads. And if you consider that, isn't that what fora like this exist for? Isn't this board an avenue to discuss topics and exchange differing viewpoints? As much as the majority of the human populace may hate public speaking, I can contend that NO ONE enjoys the thought of not being listened to. In which case, I think Ironman has engendered a lot of healthy rapport between a lot of forum goers. Whether that has or hasn't degenerated into wanton flaming or mudslinging is completely outside of his control. Remember, you always have the option to post in a thread or not... Keep that in mind.
To be completely fair, I agree. Threads of this nature should not be crucially balanced on a "Pride vs. UFC" viewpoint, neither should they be used as any sort of quantative way of determining one's dominance over the other. However, we should (as MMA fans) not ever shy away from the Fighter vs. Fighter issue. It is at the crux of why we are fans in the first place!
Rather, we should hope that the powers that be hear this in earnest in order to make it a reality.
