Okay, we all know Thompson has a glass chin and that's good news for Kimbo.

Buuuuut after watching Thompson's last fight, and assuming he's still training with Couture, I would be working on little more than my Takedown Defense and getting back on my feet than my striking.

This would be a HUGE win for Thompson (who is still young, in good shape and has plenty of MMA years left on him). He would be a huge thing at Elite XC for beating Kimbo.

I don't think Josh is going to risk having this fight on his feet, and I don't think Kimbo has the skill to stop those takedowns like Brett Rogers. I also believe that Thompson is strong and skilled enough (never thought I would use Thompson and "skilled" in the same sentence) to keep Kimbo on his back. And Kimbo doesn't strike me as the kind of fighter that gets put on his back alot at training.

Let's not forget that even with the glass jaw, this is the TOUGHEST opponent Kimbo has had to face. Even though, on the feet it would be an easy win, I don't think Thompson is that anxious to add another KO loss to his record.

BTW, when Thompson wins, do you think Kimbo's homies will rush into the ring and shank him? :happy01:

I think that Kimbo is stronger and can stop the takedowns from Thompson. The one thing you are forgetting is that Thompson is a moron and will not follow a smart gameplan. He will just go in their and try and trade with Kimbo and he will end up knocked out.

We haven't realy seen Kimbo's TDD or his ground game at all realy. But he's training with Bas so it can't be terrible.

Kimbo will run in and start swinging, if Thompson isnt smart (which he isnt) he will eat a few and be out. Same thing just a different name.

Kimbo better watch out because I have it on good authority that James has at least 12 DVDs he's watching right now. Aaaah, that never gets old. :wink03: :thumb01: :happy03:

On a serious note: I think Kimbo is still green enough that if James uses strategy (I know I'm asking a lot here) he could take Kimbo down and beat him. I kind of see Colossus charging in there and getting KTFO though.

personally i hate kimbo but i dont see thompson being smart enough to take him down as soon as the fight starts and if he doesnt then hell get KTFO pretty early

This will be another 1st round KO for Kimbo. A brutal KO for CBS debut, good matchup for Kimbo.

But with Couture training Thompson, and the possible leap in popularity Thompson would taste with a W over Kimbo, I'm sure it's in the talks.

Thompson talked about coming out and doing the same shit as he always does when he went against Brett Rogers. But when the bell rung, he went straight for the take down. Rogers was skilled enough to stay on his feet. I don't think Kimbo can stay on his feet against a guy with even decent takedowns (from seeing what I've seen of him).

I think it will be interesting, but I do believe Kimbo has the edge (or else Gary Shaw wouldn't let him in this fight). But as I said in the original post, Don't count Thompson out.
