Six Screws And A Metal Plate to Repair Frank Shamrock
Quote:
Frank Shamrock, in defense of his Strikeforce middleweight championship a week ago, gave fans exactly what they wanted, other than a victory. He stood and went toe-to-toe, blow-for-blow with San Shou champion Cung Le. Unfortunately for him, Shamrock not only lost his title, but the use of his right forearm for the near future.
Blocking several of Le’s powerful kicks with his forearms, Shamrock had to block one too many and ended up suffering a broken right ulna. It was evident near the end of the third round, when Le threw a left head kick that Shamrock obviously had time to put his arm up to block, but instead opted to brace himself and move into the kick. Not the optimum defense for kicks as powerful as Le’s.
The injury required six screws and a metal plate to repair. It will keep him out of action for upwards of eight months, depending on how his body heals up.
He is not deterred though. Shamrock's camp told MMAWeekly.com that he does plan to fight again, although the plate will have to be removed before he can re-enter the ring.

not sure how he's gonna come back, is he still fightin ken, at least that will be another win in franks future...lol I believe he can come back from the injury but if im fighting frank im throwin kicks at that arm. I think he should get his knee fixed while he's out and then come back and fight without any of Franks famous nagging injuries that he uses as kinda a crutch.....i know he wins all the time but he's makin it seem like if he didnt have any nagging injuries there would have been a better performance....hope the guy heals fast and we get to see a rematch...i think thats what everyone wants.

Frank Shamrock's a freak of nature, so I can see him coming back after this injury. I wouldn't mind a rematch with Le, though if Frank wants to play dumbass again and stand, then maybe I'd pass on that.
Dude's a manly man.

I though I heard Goldberg or someone sayin that maybe Frank would have tried to take him down towards the end of the fight when Frank wasnt havin much success standing, bu they were thinkin his knee was stopping him from doing that?? Wonder if it had an effect on his game plan??

But isn't taking the plate out going to affect him? They don't just put plates in for now reason.

You know I don't really like frank but he showed the heart of a true champion. I have to give him respect for that.

the shamrock brothers (i realize they're adoptive brothers) are stubborn, mouthy and arguably crazy, but they are an inspiration in terms of heart. I know a lot of people just thought it was a train wreck when he fought tito, but you can't say that ken didn't display heart whilst getting his ass handed to him by tito.
