Why does everybody call...

.. him Fedor Emelianenko?

Its actually pronounced Fyodor as far as I know. Like Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Its the same name. He is a world famouse and recognised author if you didnt know:)

Even the Japanese announcer in Pride got it right, but we cant?

I mean its not a sin to pronounce his name right but its just suprising that I have heard NOONE pronounce it right in USA, UK etc. Just a thought.

Good point, when i'm talking about him to mates, I say Fedor, but if I'm by myself and trying to be like Pride Ring Announcers, i'm like EMELIANENKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FYOOOOOOOOOOOODOOOOOOOR.

:)

I say it with the korean accent. Fedor is known in korea as "HyoDoRu".

Japs are known to really make a name sound weirder than it is, they throw there own twist into it, happens a lot in wrestling over there as well.

I'm pretty sure Fedor would have corrected a lot of people on it mainly Randy, who still calls him Fedor.

Thats true sometimes but my point is that they always say Fyodor and not Fedor.. Yet I have never heard anyone from the States pronounce it right..

TraMaI 04-16-2008 09:41 AM

I've heard Fedor (feh), Fador (fay) and now Fyodor (wtf?)

is that pronounced like fee yo dor? Dont get it lol.
