EliteXC bans Affliction

Quote:
In other Affliction-related news, Five Ounces of Pain has also learned that EliteXC has joined the UFC as the second major North American mixed martial arts promotion to ban its fighters from wearing Affliction clothing during cage-walk entrances.http://fiveouncesofpain.com/

Its common business sense fellas. If Affliction is starting its own promotion then why would any organization want to give them free advertisement? So what, Affliction has its own promotion and also gets to put its name out there in every other one? Sure...

Honestly, I'm surprised that the UFC and EXC are the only ones. The way I see it, it's strange that every promotion didn't come out almost immediately and say that it was going to (1) standardize its shirts for its fighters or (2) insist that its fighters not wear gear produced by another promotion.

It's basic fight politics, and I suppose that EXC is getting to the level of pay-per-view show where it doesn't want to have to worry about Affliction mooching, just like the UFC does. More money for EXC that way, and they don't really give a f*ck about it.

In reality, they actually get more publicity when five ounces publishes stuff like this, because it makes the point that they are a growing promotion that (at least according to them) is catching up with the UFC and that they are serious about their business.

I don't really care what gear fights where into the cage, so I'm not upset at what organizations choose to ban. It's totally their business, and if it pisses fighters off, then the fighters can make a stink about losing their sponsorship, but not many guys seem to care too much.

Its only appropriate but I think this is all gonna run Affliction into the ground, I doubted before they had the money to compeete with Elite XC much less the UFC, with the obvious decline in sales due to all the loss of promotion by fighters I doubt Affliction will last a year.

If they deliver a Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia match and matches of that caliber over the year I think they will be fine.

Do you think Affliction is going to make a profit off this first card? The amount of money that they have to put into preparation, setting up the buisiness, and the major advertising they are going to have to do all this and the fact that Fedor is still a chubby little russian to the casual fan and Tim Sylvia was never beloved by the fans, die hard fans may love the card but Affliction will not make a profit off there first show, and Im not sure with sales dropping off of there clothing line that they have the assets to weather the storm until they see a profit, Bodog didnt, if nothing changes neither Elite XC or the IFL will, its not easy to be the upstart promotion and non of them are making any money, the only diffrance between them and the Affliction show is that Affliction will likely have about 5 times the salaries to pay,

Adrenaline is the one putting on Fedor vs. Tim. Not Affliction! Adrenaline and Affliction are two different orgs that have nothing to do with each other!

Edit: Besides, even if Affliction was making those kinds of matches without any solid deals they won't make it a year. Pride lost its television deal and within a year there being sold to the UFC.

Actually Bonnar your wrong on this one Adrenaline is Monte Cox's promotion that Tim Sylvia signed a contract with but Monte is loaning Sylvia out in order to allow Tim to fight Fedor for Affliction because Monte saw it a a big fight for Tim that would help further establish him as a huge name in MMA and therefore be a biggr fraw for Adrenaline.
