Josh Thomson talks about his upcoming fight with Gilbert Melendez
On his training since the injury and the layoff...
"The most dangerous thing about the layoff is that it takes your body several months to get back into the swing of things even though your mind still has you thinking you can pick up where you left off. I base my confidence from my performances in training against the best welterweights in the sport...Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck and Mike Swick. If I can stop their takedowns and outstrike them before my fight, then Iím right on track. So I must say that Iím getting on track and I feel great about my performances in the gym so far, but I can always get better."
His thoughts on Melendez...
"Iím a huge fan of Gil and I think he is one of the best, if not the best, 155lber in the world. Iím just looking to put myself back on the map and itís a shame that it has to be him that gets me there."
"He is a great fighter who has the ability to fight any fight anywhere he wants which makes him a true MMA fighter who is always dangerous."
