Greatest Striker Ever?

I just wanted to throw out some names to see who everybody thinks the best strikers in this generation of combat sports is.

I threw some K-1 guys out there, along with some MMA guys. I'll be honest, I'll be f*cking shocked if this doesn't end up as a war between Ernesto Hoost and Peter Aerts because, as far as I'm concerned, they're the only two debatable guys.

If you check "Other," post the name, please.

I agree with with you, this will most likely come down to Hoost and Aerts. Hoost has the best leg kicks out of anyyone. He was able to just chop guys down with just legs kicks. The angle that he would bring his leg up and then down at to kick is ridiculous. I think a leg kick from Hoost could be compared to a Tyson hook. It's one of thoses things that you know you don't want to be hit with but you eventually will be. He also had power in his punches and was fairly accurate with his punches so you had to respect them as well.

Aerts had great kicks as well but he mainly used them to go to the body or the head. His head kicks are so much better then Cro Cop's but most people have only seen Cro Cop's. He has the better of the punching ability when compared to Hoost. I think that Aerts is the smarter striker as well because Hoost liked to get into slugfests and sometimes it lost him fights (Bob Sapp).

So I would say that Aerts is the greatest striker because he just seems to be a more complete fighter where as Hoost would sometimes lose his cool and stop doing what was working for him.

It's a really close choice between Aerts and Hoost but I went with Aerts for all the reasons MLS said.

I chose CroCop because honestly, I'm just a nuthugger.

Just curious Ironman, would you rank LeBanner slightly lower than Aerts and Hoost or do you think he doesn't even belong in the converstaion?

There really isn't a debate about anybody on that list except Aerts and Hoost. I'm going to have to go with Aerts because he's more composed than Hoost but its really kind of a toss up on this one. I could really see and concede an argument from either side.

**EDIT** To DropKick ^^^^^ I would have liked to see JLB on that list as well before the likes of Arlovski, Sylvia, Schilt, Kongo or CroCop but it really doesn't matter because Hoost and Aerts are the only debatable candidates for greatest striker ever. To me though, JLB is 3rd hands down. I think that Ironman was just picking names as fillers for the poll, and to see who really knew what they were talking about.

Buakaw would have been a good choice but I don't see him as one of the greatest strikers right now. He has fantastic kicks but compared to the other greats his hands aren't up to par. If his hands improved a little he is right up there with them if he keeps up what he is doing.

LeBanner is a great striker no doubt but he is slightly below Aerts and Hoost. Lebanner had a tremendous amount of power and was accurate as well. Lebanner could hold his own with pretty much anyone in striking.

Aerts.

Btw, Ironman, you didn't specifically say this is heavyweight only or did it just happen to be that way because you think they are the best strikers?
