Man, I haven't been this excited for a fight in a LONG time. It's going to be great to se these two face off and see how they really stack up!
Haha, it was hard to say, but it's the truth. I love the sport, and Fedor's one of my heroes, but I'd rather he lose to a fighter the caliber of Tim Sylvia than continue fighting guys he outclasses entirely. I still think Fedor's going to win, because he always finds a way to, but Tim Sylvia's going to be the toughest match-up for Fedor yet IMO.

Finally a serious opponent for Fedor! But it's still almost two months left... I really hope this card wont get UFC85ed.

By the way, does anyone know yet what kind of cage or ring they're going to use?

I wouldn't say it is Fedor's toughest match-up.

I know Choi Hong Man isn't an MMA fighter but really, he's bigger than Sylvia and I'd even say that he's the better striker. Both have little to no ground game however, I'm sure Sylvia's is significantly better than Hong Man's. If this fight hits the ground, it'll be over anyways.

Stylistically, I'd say Fedor has got this in the bag.

After this fight, I'd love to see Sylvia take on Aleksander.

Pride of KOREA:

Yoshihiro Akiyama (Choo Sung Hoon)
Denis "The Super Korean" Kang
Yoon Dong Sik
Dong Hyun "Stun Gun" Kim
Bu Kyung Jung
Hong Man "The Techno Goliath" Choi

I agree, people tend to think that good sprawl = good TDD overall, but he's certainly vulnerable to trips and throws, and that's the sort of takedwons that Fedor uses, IMO it's a bad matchup for Tim.

After this fight Barnett and Fedor will probably happen (if they both win, that's what Barnett said on inside MMA). That's gonna be insane too.

BTW, the fight is in a ring.

Tim Sylvia has faster hands than Hong Man Choi. Choi has the power, but he's far too lethargic with his punches, in contrast Tim Sylvia's hands are not only powerful, but they're surprisingly fast considering his size.

I was one of the few people around here pointing that out about Sylvia prior to his fight with Nogueira, as Randy and Vera exploited Tim's inherent weakness to leg trips. Fedor goes for hip throws inside the bodylock/clinch, and it'll be easier for him to take Tim down against the ropes.

Thanks! +rep'd

I stumbled upon this little gem shortly after watching the press conference vid that you posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC6e2vknstU. It's Fedor training for the CroCop fight. After watching it, I'm more assured that Fedor will win via armbar in the 2nd. No disrespect to Sylvia, but stylistically I'd say this fight favors Fedor, plus he's just the greatest HW of all time.

I did the same too. It's awesome how he prepares depending on who he fights. He is quick and explosive for being a heavy weight. He can throw pretty good leg kicks also. I was just re-watching Fedor vs Noguiera 3 and Fedor has pretty good head movements avoiding Noguiera's punches.
