Kimbo's street opponents

I'm completely fascinated by Kimbo Slice. I'm not sure what his rightful place is in MMA, and I'm not sure that he is good for the sport, time will tell. I'm not hating though, he's a tough as nails guy and right now without a doubt is one of the biggest draws in the game. I'm curious about the guys he was fighting in the streets. Some of them (chico and gannon) seem to have had some MMA training. What about that dude Adryan? What the hell was he thinking even entering that backyard? anybody have any inside info on these guys or the money exchanged for the fights? just curious.

kimbo is a joke! he belongs in a backyard fighting scrubs, and they ('cept gannon) had zero training! bas should be ashamed of himself.... this cbs broadcast is gonna further the notion that mma is a thug sport. he should be in pro wrestling if anywhere. while he could beat JT with a wild punch, i hope he dont!

Wonderful question. I'll be happy to clarify things in reguards to Kimbo for you.

First of all the men that he was fighting were your average Joes. The refferees were his buddies and the fights were unsanctioned, with no physician "ringside" or otherwise who's had any kind of MMA injury experience.

Second of all Gannon did fight professinally. I'm not sure how highly reguarded he was in the sport, but I do know that he defeated Kimbo.

Finally last of all, the amount of money changing hands during these fights is neither here nor there since these fights go against what MMA and these organizations stand for. Fighting as an art for competition, recognition, fame and the title. Not going out in the streets and beating up your neighbor in the back yard.

Kimbo's street fights don't impress me personally because he was still fighting cans back than.

Had he wanted to be a contender he should have done what the rest of these athletes are doing: Go train and compete the right way.

I hope you feel a bit enlightend on the situation now. I'm not trieng to sound like a jerk but you asked a loaded question.

gannon wasnt that great in MMA and the only reason him/kimbo went so long is b/c kimbo had no cardio. I would put money that kimbo could beat gannon now after his training.

Kimbos street fights as above stated were vs "tomato cans" and people with no real training, kind of like bum fights or felony fights. I am not a huge kimbo fan and I will not comment on whether he is "good" for the sport b/c he isnt (he is good for promations) BUT if he keeps training hard and continues to fight better and better people (thompson is a step up) then he could do some work in mma.

Believe.

Man I would love to see Lee Murray vs Kimbo Slice. One of America's most famous street fighters against the UK's.

Gannon only ever fought once in the UFC (and before that once in a small show), and he was raped by Brandon Lee Hinkle.. of all people.

Dana said he was still in the hospital two weeks after the fight, and he hasn't fought since!
