Bobby Lashley signs with the AFL

Former World Wrestling Entertainment performer and decorated amateur wrestler Bobby Lashley is the latest signing for the Kentucky-based American Fight League.

A source close to the 31-year-old told that Lashley will be introduced as an AFL signee — perhaps the organization’s biggest to date — during tonight’s “Bulletproof” show at Phillips Arena in Atlanta.
Authors notes:
Good for Lashley. Signing with a smaller organization like the AFL will allow him to get some MMA experience on a mid-level show, become familiar with the fight game, and then hopefully parlay that success into a larger career in MMA. He’s got the amateur wrestling tools and he’s been training with a good camp at American Kickboxing Academy. He also didn’t spend too much time in the WWE so his body hasn’t taken the punishment of oh, say, Brock Lesnar. I look forward to following his career in MMA as I think it will be a good one
I was never a big fan of Lashley, but i guess he's trying to walk in Brock's shoes. Personally i don't think Lashley has the drawing power Brock has, since he wasn't in the WWE for an a very long time. The problem with not signing with a big named MMA company, (specifically the UFC) is that he will only get recognition over America and not other countries in the world. Brock joining the UFC was epic since it was broadcasted over a number of countries over the world. Since he joins a mid-tier MMA organisation, they're going to use him as a drawing tool, which i feel Bobby Lashley really posseses. And if Bobby does get big then he'll just be another MMA fighter and not a WWE-wrestler turn MMA like Brock. I reckon Gary Shaw should've tried to take get him but oh well.

Best of luck to Bobby

I was just reading this on another site and i know alot of people on here have it in for former wrestlers but i think this is a great move for lashley as he will not bi in the spotlight and will have the time it takes to work on his mma skills to go along with his great ameture wrestling skills as opposed to guys like Lesner and other side shows like kimbo who if they dont succed now after being thrown into the spolight with no exp. will prob be considered a joke so best of luck to lashley hopefully he makes the best of a great oppertunity and winds up with a big name permotion down the line after he works his way up and earns it.

Chances make Champion's....Champion's take chances

why in the blue hell would he even bother announcing angles wrestling titles in the octagon? that's just dumb here he is the so and so time wwe champion which has no real meaning kuuurrrrt angle..... kurt would be destroyed in an MMA fight plain and simple but besides that I hope lashley does well for himself and takes the time to work his way up nice and slow and he should do fine.
