Well any good striker(boxer, k-1, muay thai, etc..) could be an upper tier fighter if they became better at bjj, wrestling, cardio. Not trying to be a smart ass but come on, you could insert three things that any guy needs to improve on that would make them an upper tier fighter.

LOL... Yeah, I noticed this forum isn't for fans; it's for at-home expert analysts. The Kimbo fight was actually pretty dang good. Thompson stuck it to him. I had JT winning the first two rounds.

Definition of FAN: an enthusiastic devotee of sports.

This forum is full of fans. It's just that the true devotee's maybe know a bit about what we're looking at.

Back to the OP: I personally think they didn't do too bad really. Questionable stoppages that wasn't the promotions fault & the ads have to be there to pay the HUUUUGE wages they've got if they're going to air them for free. I don't think Busta Rhymes did them any favours but wasn't that for Rogers entrance anyway?

The one thing that I did think was shocking was that the Kimbo v JT debacle was main event over the Lawler v Smith title fight. That in itself damages the integrity of their belts.

I don't know if you can call it a good fight. It reminded me of watching early ufc or pride matches when guys didn't know how to control on the ground. It looked like two unversed guys in bjj having a ground battle. The good fight of the night was the lawler/smith fight. I loved how those guys layed it on the line. It was unfortunate that they had to stop the fight, but every fighter knows if they ask you can you go, you say yes no matter what. I was also disappointed in Gina Carano's cardio. However the first two fights were pretty good for undercard fights.

His striking didn’t impress me against “hands down” glass chin Thompson, there were a million opportunities to put Thompson to sleep after he punched himself out 3:00 into the 1st but Kimbo didn’t have the gas to get it done.
His cardio only looked marginally better than Thompson.

Gas that bad against a good heavyweight and you get KOd, its that simple.

Kimbo is a ******* joke and JT got robbed by that BS stoppage, I'm not watching EliteXC anymore, they are bad to MMA, what is this, the return of fixed fights? Kimbo wouldn't last two minutes against any HW in the UFC.

That sounds like a new level of purgatory, having to watch Quarry vs. Starnes over and over.
