Brett Rogers: "I would've tore Kimbo down in 1!"

BRETT ROGERS: "I WOULDVE TORE HIM DOWN IN 1!"

WAR ROGERS

LOL

Kimbo don't want none of this cat...you could see the fear in his eyes at the press conference...that's why he had to have his whole damn entourage jump in and try to defend him.

I'm on the Rogers bandwagon now....with his goofy two-step, brohawk and all.

LOL

On his fight...

"He was getting sloppy with the hands, you know? Every time you do that sloppy thing, itís always going to be the first one who catches the other one. Every time you do that hook, hook, Iím going to try and throw an uppercut or something. It was just a matter of time. I felt him, especially when we were tumbling against the fence. When you tumbling against the fence, you going to give a little pressure or something. He couldíve done stuff to me that he didnít do and I was like, ďMan, either he donít have this background or he ainít trying to fight.Ē I knew I was going to catch him."

On Kimbo vs. Thompson...

"Man, when I watch that fight again man, I see the same shit I saw the first time. Donít get me wrong, Kimbo entertainment-wise, he does his thing. I canít knock that, but looking at it as fighter to fighter, me being on the same shows as him, itís like I couldíve beenÖif I was Thompson, aw man! If I was Thompson, I wouldíve tore him down in 1 man. It wouldíve been a 1st round again. I done said that I donít know how many times, but it wouldíve been the 1st round situation again. Obviously, he ainít got no wrestling background."

More on Kimbo...

"Iím shocked that heís not expecting someone to call him out. Iím not the only heavyweight that feels this way so he better check that too. Itís a lot of hype around the guy and itís guys that feel like theyíre being pushed to the side..."

On Carano vs. Young...

"Aw man, much respect to the women. Itís not every day where you could see two models going at it. You look at them in the street and it would be like, ďYaíll some fighters?Ē They put on a show too. I know my girl Kaitlin got her eye blasted or whatnot, but I donít think it was to the point where it was that serious to where they shouldíve called it. That comes with the territory and she understands that as a female fighter."

He talks more about Kimbo, the CBS production, and some other stuff in the full interview:

How quickly the bandwagon is vacated. Did anybody actually believe Kimbo would develop a ground game this quickly. He's got less BJJ experience than me and I'm a white belt. I actually think he looked pretty good on the ground. A bit inexperienced but promising. His cardio is certainly is question though. I think this experience will be good for Kimbo. He's realized that he is not unstoppable and his game has some big holes in it. He won all of the stand up exchanges and looked good on the ground until he got tired. Cardio is the ultimate submission. Now that Brett Rogers has valunteered to be his next opponent Bas will be working extensivly on his BJJ. I will say that Brett Rogers while he is impressive has been a stand up fighter up till now and may want to think twice about banging with Kimbo as no one has bested him on his feet. I pay to see that fight though.

While I think Rogers would destroy Kimbo and would love to see it. I do want to say DBlock that of all the stuff to critique Kimbo on I dont believe cardio is one of them, you can say he gassed but if you study BJJ you should be able to imagine how hard it would be to keep from being manhandled by someone who is as big and strong and Thompson especially considering that you've said you have even more training then him.

Thompson is a big strong guy, but so is Kimbo. Being big is not a good excuse for gasing in a three round fight. He started gasing and all his BJJ training went out the window. It's also hard to train for when you've never seen round 2 before. The real problem is elitexc and Bas Rutten. Bas should have protected him from elitexc and elitexc shouldn't be push him too fast. No none should be headlineing an event with a 2-0 record. I don't care what their reputation is. Especially getting top billingover a title fight. Hell Gina Carano got fight of the night in my book.

I think Bas Rutten should put him on the submission grappling circuit for a while. His ground would improve quickly if he cn't punch.

BJJ (and Jitz as it applies to MMA) is all about not wasting energy. When you over commit to striking or waste too much energy trying to sweep at dumb times you gas quick. I think he also may have paniced whne he was put on his back the first time (which can cause you to start huffing and puffing early) Hell...Kimbo himeslf said he needs to quit smoking in the post fight press confrence. The dude has little to no gas tank. This actually surprised me considering how in shape he looked. He needs to work his endurance considerably.
