My Thoughts on EliteXC, Prime-Time, and Ignorant News Anaylsts

After watching the video posted by another member about Bill O'Reilly's opinions on EliteXC and the opinions on his ignorant Right Wing Guests I felt I really needed to release.

I've been a fan of the sports for a while now. I became instantly hooked on the sport and fell in love with it. So much that the early years of my life watching Pro Wrestling all seemed insignificant in comparison to MMA. And I kicked myself for even watching Pro Wrestling.

All those years of my childhood wasted in staying home watching WWF and WCW practicing the moves on friends and making an ass out of myself.

Finally a real sport that was exciting to watch and train in so much that I still do it to this day and is in the back of my mind as a career choice and if that falls through I would like to be a sports journalist.

I went back after being a fan for a while and watched some of the "older UFC's" to really compare as to how much the sport has changed.

Sadly it's crazy how many people still believe it's the brutal, bloody, cockfighting spectacle it was back in 1993 when Rorion had a revelation. It's almost as if these people are still stuck in 1993.

Bill and Bernard comparing MMA to Prow Wrestling is an insult.

WWE is not a "sport" it's a traveling circus on steroids.

MMA is a very serious sport that takes dedication and hard work. MMA fighters are the best athletes in the world IMO. And Right wing idiots and ignorant people bashing these people because of their career choice is not fair at all.

But for some reason nobody cares about the flagrant steroid and recreational drug use associated with Pro Wrestling.

Nobody wants to accept the fact that more people die in Boxing than MMA.

Nobody seems to care that more people dying from Steroid and Drug use in Pro Wrestling.

Nobody seems to realize that more people die Fishing than any other sport in the world.

Brain Damage? Don't go there. When anyone of those people at Fox can talk to James Toney and actually understand what he is saying you let me know. Meanwhile a guy like Pete Sell who gets knocked out on the regular can speak with no problem at all.

Bernard Goldberg mentioned something about someone getting killed from copying MMA?

Well let me say something about that stupid jackknob. I'd rather have my kid doing something constructive like Grappling and Kickboxing that actually has some real life bearing, Rather than having my kid copying pro-wrestling, aka Jumping off my roof and hitting people with chairs.

I wish for a change Bill would invite some people with different opinions onto his show but whatever fits his Right Wing Agenda is what he's going to do.

I know a lot of people are going to say "Well it's Bill O'Reilly, Who gives a shit"

But guess what the mainstream news media speaks directly to America. Most people will believe anything they hear.

While I won't deny the disgustingly terrible Primetime Debut of EliteXC and the disgrace that is Kimbo Slice (his face doesn't belong on CBS) people need to educate themselves on the subject before displaying such ignorance

Great post man. I agree, Kimbo being the new "face of MMA" is complete bullshit. As another member mentioned, he is setting the sport back a few steps by bringing back the 'brutality' aspect that was extinguished years ago. Anybody interested in MMA who sees Kimbo as the "face of MMA" will likely research Kimbo. We all know what they'll find in his infamous YouTube videos, including the one where he knocks a guy's eyeball out of his socket. I have to say, as much as I love Bas, I am disappointed to see that Kimbo is his new protege. Honestly, I have no problem with Kimbo's personality. He seems pretty laid-back, soft-spoken and respectful for the most part. He has a good sense of humor too from what I've seen. It's just what he represents that bothers me. It's the image he brings to MMA as a sport that makes the unfamiliar viewer question MMA's legitimacy. Little Shaw talked about how EliteXC is going to take MMA so far forward, but they've done the opposite in my opinion.

As far as 'Pro Wrestling'... I am happy to see Brock Lesnar in the UFC for one reason, and that is to see a 'pro wrestling' musclebound steroid-using freak get dominated by a fighter much smaller than him. Maybe the fans he's brought in from WWWhatever will stick around now that they've found a real sport. If they don't, who cares. At least the idea of pro wrestlers making it in MMA will be out of everybody's mind. Some people might not agree with me calling Lesnar a roid freak, but he was using them in college, so imagine him not using in pro wrestling. Surely, he's not dumb enough to use them while fighting for the UFC.
Can you see this guy as the face of MMA? This is the part where Michael Bisping should say, "Go back to wrestling!"
