Does it ever strike you have fast things change and how fickle we all are as fans?
I've been thinking about this for a while.......it just seems like things seem to change overnight in the MMA world.
Like The Cro Cop being this unstoppable beast who was simply going to kill everybody in the UFC........Couture being everybodies hero and seemingly perfect in every way, he seems to lie to get some money, he's fans dissapear. Shogun aswell, not just the fact he's not no. 1 anymore at LHW, but that suddenly he seems like such a different fighter. He has all these holes in his game apparently and it seems like he was never as good as we thought.
I wonder if the same thing would happen to Fedor if he lost to Tim, will he have never been that great, had a record built on cans, will his fans dissapear........
I don't know, these were just random thoughts I was having.
Anybody agree/disagree?

I think about this from time to time...I often fear that Fedor will end up being mediocre..

I remember how Vitor Belfort was like a unstoppable phenom until he fought Couture and couture introduced him to dirty boxing- clinch fighting that was a huge upset and Vitor was never really the same anymore, he lost something, confidence i think. Same with the crow after franklin. Remember when Tank was a seriously dangerous fighter? Some people get better after a loss or 2 but some never peak again.

Ya, Belforts downfall was all Randy's dirty boxing. Had nothing to do with the fact that his sister has kidnapped, raped, and killed in the same time period.

His downfall was prior to that.
I've considered how fast people change in MMA, but it doesn't seem unique to this sport, but individual sports in general. I think the reason it's a little more rampart in MMA is because it's so new.

Sometimes someone loses and they really get exploited. Cro Cop has looked awful in his last two UFC fights and has since won one fight against a can in DREAM I think so I can see why people are not as high on him anymore, he has some things to improve on to be a top 3 HW nowadays.
Vitor just got way too much hype too soon. He still shows his flashes of brilliance but I think we can all accept that he has been relegated to journeyman status. Yeah, mma fans are fickle but thats the way it goes.

I hate it when you yourself is a fan of a fighter before they become "big" and popular, then you are looked at as joining the bandwagon. Something that happened to me with Brian Stann and I'm hoping it doesn't happen to me when Hardonk becomes more popular.
EDIT: Also, it's like that with every sport. Fans change quite often.

When I think of a warrior, I think of the Marines I've led in combat, those Marines that sacrificed so much...no showers, little food, no contact with their family, all for their love for their brother Marine and for their love for their country. That's a warrior, willing to lay his life on the line. I've had Marines that have laid their lives on the line for the man next to him, and for their family and country. That's a warrior. The guy who goes into some athletic contest who has no war experience, in my eyes, really has no right to call himself that. That's a coveted thing to call someone, and that's what I call my Marines. Those are warriors." - Brian Stann
