Is Kimbo the black Tank Abbott

Everyone is bitching about Kimbo. But his style is the same as Tank Abbotts, a man Dana White said would one day be in the UFC HOF.

If this is true, then all Kimbo needs is a time machine and he will be champ.

I think even in Tanks prime as a straight up street brawl it would close and probably last a good few minutes but I think Kimbo would still knock Tank out. Just call it a hunch as we will never know but I think Kimbo is a smarter brawler. I think Kimbo's natural boxing ability would outlast Tanks power.

No not really. Yeah they both like to punch hard and thats about it but Kimbo seems to actually want to learn and get better and trains on the ground and according to Bas he trains very hard which I dont doubt because Bas would be a harda*s. Tank just wanted to throw punches as hard as he could and hurt someone and go have a cocktail. Tank in his early days was much better because he did actually train a little bit(although not nearly like the fighters today do) but the competition was also so much weaker than it is today. The reaosn he will be in the Hall of Fame is because he was there when it started had some highlight reel KOs and was a household name.

No...fighting an out of shape 45 year old whose training consists of having beer for breakfast and drinking cocktails everyday doesnt mean anything.

I cant say in Tanks prime the outcome wouldnt of been different, but I know it would have been much closer and much more of a brawl. Tank simply wanted a paycheck, everyone knew what the outcome of this fight was going to be.

The question isn't about who is better. Its the fact that everybody is bashing Kimbo (BTW I don't rate him) but one of UFCs most well known fighters (Abbott) style was pretty similar and for all the hating towards Kimbo from UFC they made a lot of money from a brawler with no discernible MMA skills.

Did Tank ever evolve and try to learn the ground game for instance? Kimbo is at least making the effort to become more than brawler.

I found Tank entertaining back in the day but I hope he's not inducted into UFC's Hall of Fame as it'll turn it into a joke.

Kimbo does ot have the same style as Tank Abbott at all.
Tank was a wrestler and a boxer, he won a lot of fights by outwrestling people.

Yeah a lot of Tank's persona was trying to convince people he was just a brawlwer but he always showed pretty decent wrestling skills. Hasn't he got a degree as well, I think the whole bar brawler persona was more of a business move.

Oh and for the record Tank was a big star 10 years ago, with the way the sport has evolved comparing him and Kimbo just shows what a joke as a serious MMA fighter Kimbo really is.
