havin troubles with southpaw

i boxed for a year under an almost private trainer, it was me and about 6 other guys and although we all followed the same schedule he tought us almost individually, me bein south paw was no issue

now im doing muay thai in a bigger class with little individual attention(no complaints..it would be perfect if i wasnt southpaw)but i am, and find it difficult to keep up with the directions since they are primarily taught in a regular stance. doenst seem like a big diffrnce but it is when watching footwork and what hand/ foot a punch or kick is bein used

i will start jiu jitsu this week and add in mma by the end of the month, any other south paws with the same issues? should i just work in a regular stance while in class? any thoughts would be good, thanks

I'm a southpaw (we're just not right) and I know what you are talking about. Works great in fights when the other fighter looks for the "regular" stance, but when being taught striking it does make it tough. Jiu Jitsu it's great in that there is no "regular" way of doing it. You will find grasping the moves a lot easier than with the striking.

Just remember, since left southpaws use the right side of the brain ONLY southpaws are in their right mind!

im thinking that with the muay thai then i might switch over to regular stance. i already have a decent amount of southpaw experiance and i pick up fighting regular stance pretty quickly also, so i think it may be a benifit to be strong fighting both stances.. and im glad to know it wont effect my jiu jitsu

Yea i think it would be good for u to just stand regular while learning muay thai, like u said its good to be strong in either stance, also once u learn the moves u should be able to just naturally flip back to lefty.
