Too Old?

Hi im 27 and interested in competitive mma fighting. I do have boxing and kickboxing background, with a little bit of ken-po and karate. I am a very good stand up striker but never trained in jiu-jitsu and have just started training in greco-roman wrestling. Im very healthy, 5'11" 208lbs. quick and very dangerous hands. Good kicks that often catch my opponents when they least expect it. Ive done a little ground and pound practice but never took it to the ground in a real fight. I am VERY dedicated and i learn fast. So im thinkin if I train super hard for the next 1-3 years id be ready. Let me know what yall think. Regardless i am gonna give it my all and try to make it but Id still like to hear some unbiased input.

Of corse you're not too old.

Some guys just have it. You could get in the cage tomorrow night and start knocking people out. A years training in jujitsu and Muay Thai and you'd be sweet.

Good luck.

good luck man you still got plenty of time. Alot of guys fight till there 40s and do pretty good so 30 really isnt over the hill for fighters any more. Youll be able to have a nice long career if you want it.

Hell, most of the guys that have held a title the last few years in the big shows are in their late 20s early 30s. Especially with your past experience, I say go for it.

You aren't too old but you do have a problem in not having any kind of background on the ground. I think having experience in wrestling or BJJ is mandatory to succeed in MMA and if you are starting those from scratch at this age that is going to be pretty tough. I think it is easier for a wrestler or BJJ guy to learn enough striking to get by then it is for a striker to learn enough grappling to keep them afloat.
